As I was scrolling through my feed, I realised that I want to save almost every post I come across! The wonderful women in my network share posts that inspire me, motivate me and give me the positivity I need to face every new day as an entrepreneur.

I am so lucky to be surrounded by so many inspirational women who make me want to be better every single day. Each and every one of them are beautiful blessings in my life from whom I have received nothing but encouragement and support in my journey with Nudge Africa.

My wish is for every woman to feel as I do, deeply grateful and endlessly inspired by my tribe. Wishing all the wonderful ladies in my life a very Happy Women’s Day!

With everything going on around us in the world, in our own country and in our personal lives, sometimes we just need to retreat and give ourselves time to reflect on everything that’s going on. I have been doing just that - taking the time to regroup and take care of my own mental health during a season that has been hard for us all.

With the passing of Eric van Gils, our industry lost a great man - mentor to many. I lost a friend and respected colleague, and it just didn’t feel right to go on as normal without taking the time to honour the loss. I hope every one of you is remembering to fill your own cup and take the time you need to rest and find some calm in the overwhelm.

Take the time with people coming up behind you. LISTEN! Young people have so much to say and can inspire and transform our thinking, if we pay attention.

This is such an important message for leaders in companies large and small, and solopreneurs. Meaningful work is something we all want. We want to know how what we do, contributes to the whole. We want to belong, to be an integral part of the team or the online communities we engage with.

I have had the most wonderful opportunities since I started out on my own. I’ve been lucky enough to pick the work I want to do and to enrich my echo system of fellow entrepreneurs by passing on work that isn’t in my sweet spot. I’ve also been the recipient of work from that same echo system.

Do the work that you love and is meaningful to you.
Build a network of advisors you can trust and let them know the impact of their contribution.
Be a trusted advisor and share freely. Collaboration gets you further than competition.
Honour the work by getting up every morning grateful to be busy and fulfilled.
Take time to encourage others. Your support and encouragement online have meant more to me than I can express.

We discussed popular excuses, reviewed “the rules” of sick leave and spoke about the importance of mental health breaks especially now where the boundaries between life and work are blurred as we work from home.

I love this quote by Simon Sinek and another favourite is this one, attributed to Winston Churchill which says "If you find a job you love, you'll never work again."

At first glance, they seem contradictory but they're not. Working hard is a part of life but when that work is meaningful or interesting or even fun, we can emerge at the end of a long, hard day feeling exhausted but light in spirit! It feels good to work at something you enjoy and/or something you believe in.

If your job isn't giving you that sense of satisfaction and achievement, consider working with a coach or a mentor to unearth your options. Don't let the weight of an unfulfilling job leave you too tired to explore. I can tell you firsthand that it's hard but oh so worth it!
