"I hate being on video"

Deidra told me the same thing during our first call: "I absolutely hate being on video. I freeze up, stumble over my words, and feel like I look terrible."

A month later? She was creating video content that felt natural and authentic.
What changed wasn't her comfort level overnight - it was having a clear set of instructions she could follow instead of flying blind.

Here's what I gave her:
The Setup: Camera positioning and spacing for adding captions
The Structure: A 3-part formula for every video. How to start, what to share and how to end off. No more staring at the camera wondering what to say.
The Practice: Short takes, not perfect performances. We focused on getting comfortable with the basics before worrying about being brilliant.

The anxiety didn't disappear immediately - but it became manageable because she wasn't improvising everything from scratch anymore.

Here's what most people miss: Video confidence isn't built by forcing yourself to "just do it." It's built by removing the guesswork.

When you know where to stand, what to say, and how to structure your message, "being on video" stops feeling like performance art and starts feeling like... work.

Good work that serves your audience.

Drop the word VIDEO in the comments if you want the framework I gave her too!

📊 CASE STUDY: How we increased webinar registrations by 329% with two simple changes...

Most people think their webinars aren't working because they need better tech.
Or a fancier funnel.
Or more ad spend.
But look at these numbers...

My client - The Uncertainty Experts - went from 80 registrations in January to 367 in September.

Same audience. Same expertise. Same budget.

So what changed?

Two things that cost absolutely nothing:

1. We fixed their webinar titles
Instead of boring, generic names like "Career Masterclass"...
We started using titles that spoke directly to their audience's pain points.
Titles that made people think "Oh wow, this is exactly what I need right now."

2. We planned ahead
No more scrambling to promote a webinar 3 days before it happens.
We mapped out topics months in advance.
Gave ourselves 2-3 weeks minimum to properly promote each one.

That's it.

No fancy hacks. No expensive tools. No complicated strategies.

Just better messaging + proper planning.

The result? A 329% increase in registrations.

And here's what I see all the time...

People are so focused on the "how" of webinars (the tech, the slides, the follow-up sequences)...

That they completely ignore the "what" and "when."

What you call your webinar matters more than your PowerPoint template.

When you promote it matters more than how many emails you send.

Your audience doesn't have a webinar problem.
They have a "I don't understand why I should care" problem.

Fix the message first. Plan the timeline second. Everything else is just decoration.

This client's business transformed because we got the fundamentals right.

Not because we added more complexity.

Your audience already sees you. They're just not convinced you can help them.

It's not about getting in front of more eyeballs. It's about making the eyeballs you already have think "This person gets it. This person can solve my problem."

Your business isn't struggling because people don't know you exist. It's struggling because the people who DO know you exist don't see you as THE solution to their problem.

The fix isn't more content. It's better content.
The fix isn't more platforms. It's clearer messaging.
The fix isn't more visibility. It's actual conversion strategy.

Stop asking "How do I get more people to see me?"

Start asking "How do I get the people who already see me to believe I'm exactly what they need?"

It's just math. One person who's ready to buy beats 1,000 people who just think you're "nice to follow."

You have permission to stop chasing vanity metrics and start focusing on what actually pays the bills: turning browsers into buyers.

P.S. I break this down in my latest YouTube video. Check it out.

Most people are measuring the wrong things.
They're obsessing over likes, shares, and comments...
While their bank account stays exactly the same.

Let me break down what ACTUALLY matters:

Your content is working when:
➖ People are downloading your lead magnets without you having to beg them to
➖ Your DMs are full of "How do I work with you?" messages
➖ Your evergreen products are selling in the background
➖ Qualified leads are booking discovery calls

Notice what's NOT on that list?
Vanity metrics.
Going viral.
Getting featured in someone's story.
None of that pays your bills.

You know why?
Cause good content doesn't just get attention.
It gets the RIGHT attention.
From people who have problems you can solve.
With money to pay you to solve them.

If your content isn't moving people from "I didn't know you existed" to "I need what you're selling"...
It's just noise.
And frankly?
Most content is noise.

Because people are creating content to feed the algorithm...
Instead of feeding their business.

Your content should work like a 24/7 sales assistant.
•Qualifying prospects.
•Building trust.
•Moving people toward a purchase decision.

If it's not doing that?
You're just posting for dopamine.
And dopamine doesn't pay the bills.

The good news?

This is fixable.

You don't need more content.
You need better content.

Content that connects your expertise to their problems.
Content that makes it obvious why they should work with YOU.
Content that does the heavy lifting so you don't have to.

That's the real strategy.
Not more posts.
Better posts.

"I got burned from a candle when I was 11 months old. My mom lifted me up from the bed and my right hand literally stayed behind. From 11 months until 15 years, I had a total of 104 surgeries just to fix me up. I tried to commit su***de three times because I felt like I didn't belong here. But then in 2007, I met God, and He told me: 'You have a purpose. Your purpose is to bring hope and healing to my children.' And from that day on, my life has never been the same again..."

In this deeply moving episode of The Grit Reapers, we sit down with Itumeleng Sekhu-Pedi, entrepreneur and founder of the Itumeleng Seku Foundation, for an extraordinary conversation about trauma, healing, and finding purpose in the most unexpected places.

What You'll Hear:
🩷 Itumeleng's incredible survival story and journey through 104 surgeries
🩷 How childhood bullying led to three su***de attempts and the darkest period of her life
🩷 The spiritual awakening that completely transformed her perspective on her scars
🩷 Why she chose to face her greatest fear by starting a candle business
🩷 How external scars taught her that everyone carries invisible wounds
🩷 The healing power of having difficult conversations about mental health
🩷 Why taking rest days doesn't make you weak - it makes you human
🩷 How her foundation has impacted 250 schools and changed countless lives

📊 CASE STUDY: How a little bit of strategy transformed Betsy's YouTube channel (and business)

The Before: A client of mine - Betsy - teaches Zoom skills and was creating videos based on what she thought would be interesting.

Result? Videos like "How to share a portion of your screen in Zoom" were getting 164 views after 6 months.

The Strategy Shift: I introduced Betsy to Keywords Everywhere to discover what people are actually searching for.
Instead of guessing topics, we started with real search data.

The After: Her new video "How to instantly improve video quality on Zoom" hit 1.1K views in just 2 months.

But here's the real win...

We didn't just focus on views. We connected the video to an opt-in funnel with a lead magnet that not only connected to the video but that we felt her audience would be dying to get their hands on.

The Business Impact:
✅ Significant increase in opt-ins (which validated our assumption that the lead magnet was a good one)
✅ Multiple sales of her program through the email sequence (all to completely cold traffic)
✅ Content that actually works for her business, not just vanity metrics

The lesson:
Stop creating content based on what you think people want. Start with what they're actually searching for. Then build a bridge from that content to your offers. That way you will build a complete customer acquisition system that converts strangers into buyers.

Are you creating content based on data or assumptions?

→ Problem #3: Offer Problems - When your solution doesn't match what people actually want

→ Problem #4: Content Packaging - Missing the crucial next steps that turn readers into customers

I see this pattern everywhere: Business owners stuck in a "content loop".

You know you need to be posting.
You feel the pressure.
So you jump straight into making graphics, writing captions, scheduling posts.

But here's what's missing: the thinking.

Without clear intention, your content is merely work that keeps you busy.

Pretty graphics that go nowhere. Clever captions that convert no one.

Most content fails not because it's poorly designed - it fails because it has no destination.

Before you ask "what template should I use?" ask:
- Who exactly am I speaking to today?
- What specific problem are they experiencing?
- How do THEY describe that problem?
- What do I want them to do after seeing this?

Strategy isn't sexy. Templates and AI prompts feel easier.

But when you get clear on what you're actually trying to accomplish, everything else - the graphics, the captions, the posting schedule - becomes simple.

Oh and as an added bonus, your content stops being digital noise and starts being navigation

Your content and your offers are probably having two completely different conversations.

Here's the disconnect I see constantly:
👇🏼

→ You're explaining the art of molecular gastronomy
→ But your audience just walked in saying "I'm hungry"
→ So when you offer a "culinary mastery experience," they leave to find a sandwich

The fix isn't more content. It's alignment.

Before you create another post, answer this:

1. What problem does my audience THINK they have?
2. What problem do they ACTUALLY have?
3. Does my offer bridge that gap?

The solution isn't louder marketing - it's meeting people where they are, then guiding them to where they need to be.

P.s. I break this down in my latest YouTube video . Check it out and let me know in the comments if any of these were a surprise to you.

🎙️Ever wonder what separates the genuine success stories from the empty hype in your feed?

Welcome back to “Trash or Treasure” - where Gail Starr and Candice dig through the noise to find the real gems worth your attention.

This week, we struck gold with a post that had us both saying “TREASURE!” from the get-go. But what made this one so different from the usual “I made 6 figures in my sleep” nonsense?

In this episode, we dive into:
💎 Why context is everything - The power of sharing your actual timeline (spoiler: it took 7 years!)
💎 The beauty of admitting failure - How “it flopped... again... and again” became the foundation for real success
💎 Why knowing your destination matters more than you think
💎 Launch, rinse, repeat - The unglamorous truth about doing the work over and over until it clicks
💎 Finding flowers on the mountain - Why you need to celebrate the messy middle, not just the summit.

This is what authentic entrepreneurship looks like, folks - no overnight success stories, no magic bullets, just honest grit and the willingness to keep going when things don’t work out as planned.
