We are pleased to announce the appointment of Tshepo Mathekga as our Chief Executive Officer ✨

As the organisation enters its next phase, Tshepo will lead Huruma Bantfu’s work across partnerships, advisory services, and strategic initiatives that strengthen organisations, communities, and local economies 🌞

Tshepo brings experience across philanthropy, partnership development, entrepreneurship support, and community engagement. When a fire breaks out, residents are forced to run from their homes with only a few belongings. Some lose everything they own, including clothes, food, schoolbooks, and important documents, such as identity books. Children are often left frightened and traumatised after witnessing the destruction of their homes and communities 🔥 🚒

Africa has one of the largest treatment gaps globally as a result of stigma, fragmented service delivery models, and human resource shortages, which in turn contribute to poorly developed and underfunded health services. Stigma also suppresses the visible demand that funders typically respond to, making it harder to build the advocacy case for investment in mental health programmes ✨
