CEOs note
This past weekend someone/people broke into my home and took some important things from me. My sneakers 🙄, my phone and my laptop.
On the surface, I've been keeping face, looking strong, laughing about it... But privately I've been sulky about it. Losing my laptop has really got me out-of-sorts.
I mean, I could replace the sneakers and get some airforce ones in the process.. Who needs a cell phone anyway 💁🏾♂️... Just email me.
But for the past three years I've found a way to express myself through that i5 processor. Somehow I drew from myself into the work I produced, that's why losing it has turned into such an emotional experience.
There are a number of projects I wanted to share with you over the festive season: older projects and passion projects. But in light of the events, I think an open letter should do.
I've been alerting clients about this unfortunate circumstance and the response has been inspiring. From the day I sat down with the team to look into the vision I told them that is a "dream come true"... Not so for me, not for them, but for the entrepreneur. The startup.
And from what I'm seeing, it's amazing how has turned concepts into tangible brands. Our clients feel that their brands stand a chance! their brands have personality!
That gives me hope. When we continue doing what we do, we'll have a greater impact on society than we could have imagined. For us, the success of the business isn't just money in the bank. It's freedom; it's full bellies on a continental scale; and a sense of fulfillment through a realized passion. That's why your business is a serious thing, even for us!
So I sit here, looking back at what has been an otherwise fantastic period of my life ; and I can only draw strength from the most reliable source I know. And these words ring aloud in my spirit: "this charge I commit unto thee, according to the prophecies which went BEFORE on thee, that THOUGH BY THEM MIGHTEST WAR A GOOD WAREFARE."
So in the words of urban poet Ken....
