Last Friday, I had the absolute privilege of supporting one of our Edu HR Board Members as she stepped into an exciting new business venture. ❤️

Now, if you know Bianca, you’ll know she already supports Edu HR by helping me put together proposals for various departments — because, quite frankly, she has that skill. 😂

But somewhere along the way, Bianca also listened to enough of my complaints about how difficult it is to find team-building experiences that actually bring people together without creating more conflict! 🤣

And so… Legendary Culinary was born! 👩‍🍳✨

Legendary Culinary is about learning, experiencing, connecting and having FUN — all while enjoying the experience in a relaxed, comfortable environment.

And let me tell you… last Friday was exactly that! Besides that Bianca was able to have a seriously good laugh at me, I had a very tactile dysfunctional moment with the sticky rice 😂

💜 Overdose Awareness: Every Conversation Could Save a Life

Overdose Awareness is about more than statistics—it's about people. It's about recognising that behind every struggle is a person who may be carrying stress, trauma, anxiety, or emotional pain that others cannot see.

Teaching is one of the most rewarding professions, but it can also be one of the most emotionally demanding. Many educators face increasing workloads, behavioural challenges, administrative pressures, and the emotional responsibility of supporting learners every day. For some, these pressures can contribute to unhealthy coping mechanisms, including the misuse of alcohol or narcotics.

There is no shame in experiencing stress or trauma. There is, however, a risk in trying to carry it alone.

Substance misuse is not a sustainable solution. It can affect physical and mental health, professional judgement, relationships, and ultimately the ability to provide the safe, nurturing environment that every learner deserves.

The most courageous step is often the simplest one:

💜 Talk to someone.
🤝 Reach out to a trusted friend, colleague, family member, or supervisor.
🩺 Seek support from a healthcare or mental health professional.
🌱 Remember that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

As school communities and workplaces, we also have a responsibility to create environments where people feel safe to ask for help without fear of judgement. Compassion, early support, and access to appropriate resources can make a meaningful difference.
