A debit order remembers by itself. Cash doesn't.

That's the catch with paying for anything at a till: next month, it's on you to remember. Most shop owners already have enough to remember.

So when you pay for TuckBot in cash, TuckBot does the remembering. It messages you two days before your month ends, again the day before, and on the day itself. And if the till trip still slips, Pro keeps running for 7 more days while you get there.

Nothing switches off the moment the date passes.

Everyone checks the dates when the delivery comes in. Then the week gets busy and nobody checks again.

Milk, yoghurt, polony: a notebook won't tell you they're about to turn.

When you pack them in, type "stock milk 12 expiry 20 Oct 2026". From 7 days before that date, TuckBot sends you a morning message with what is close to expiring and how many are still on the shelf. Time to put it at the front, or drop the price while it can still sell.

Not every rand you made today is in the drawer.

Most of a spaza day is cash. Then someone taps a card for two milks, and at closing the drawer looks R36 short when nothing is missing.

With TuckBot, cash is the default. You only mention the exception: say "sold 2 milk on card" and that sale is marked card. Everything you don't mark goes in as cash.

At 8pm the summary splits the day for you: what came in as cash, what came in on card, and the total. The cash line is the number that belongs in the drawer.

Nobody hands you a manual with TuckBot, and you do not need one.

Stuck on something? Ask it, in the same chat you record your sales in, the way you would ask a person.

"Does it use a lot of data?" It tells you: about the same as your other WhatsApp messages, a voice note a little more.

"I spelled a customer's name wrong." It tells you exactly what to type, and everything they owe moves to the right name.

In a notebook, every part-payment is another crossing-out.

Sipho takes R80 of goods on credit. Friday he pays R50. Next week, R20. By month end the page says 80, a line through it, 30, a line through that, and nobody is sure about the last R10.

With TuckBot you just say what happened, typed or as a voice note: "Sipho paid me R50." It takes it off his book and tells you straight back what is left: R30. Next week, "Sipho paid me R20", and he is on R10. No lines, no arguing about the maths.

You cannot close the shop to go and pay for software.

So you do not have to go. Type "pay", tap Choose payment and pick Cash, and a reference number lands in the chat with the amount. Forward it to whoever is going to town anyway: your son, the helper, the cousin fetching stock from the wholesaler.

They give the number at any Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Spar, Usave or Game till and pay the cash. TuckBot sees the payment and Pro switches on in your shop by itself. You never left the counter.

What actually happens when you send "hi" to TuckBot?

1. It welcomes you and asks for your shop name and one tick on the privacy policy. That is the whole sign-up. No email, no ID number, no card.

2. It says your shop is set up with 14 days free, and asks what is on the shelf. Type it one line at a time, "bread 20 15", or say it in a voice note: "twenty bread at fifteen rand and a dozen milk". Or hold each barcode to the camera and it fills the names in for you.

3. From then on you just tell it what happened. "Sold 2 bread and a milk." "Sipho owes R30." It keeps the book, and at 8pm it sends you the day.

Three messages from you, and the shop is running on the same WhatsApp you already use.

Which sold more this week, the brown bread or the white?

Your notebook knows what you sold today, if you wrote it all down. It does not add up a week. Nobody sits down on a Sunday night and adds seven pages of bread.

Ask TuckBot "what sold this week?" and the answer comes back sorted, best seller at the top: how many of each went, what they brought in, and how much of it went out on credit.

Now you know what to double on the next wholesaler run, and what to leave on the shelf.

TuckBot answers off your own shelf, not off a guess: every bread you carry, how many of each are left, the price where you have set one, and the total across the lot. Carry four kinds of bread and you see all four.

Same for "am I out of sugar" or "what does milk cost".
