Guardians STU with SAPS recover vehicle minutes after hijacking.

A couple was hijacked while parked in their grey Mercedes in Orange Grove at 19h45 by four men, two of which had rifles while one had a pistol. Guardians STU was activated and assisted Norwood SAPS with tracking the vehicle, which was recovered just 10 minutes later in Riverpark in Alexandra Township.

Unfortunately, the suspects got got away.

A case of hijacking was opened by the complainants, and the recovered vehicle was taken to Aeroton for processing.

Success report:

While patrolling, a member of Guardians Special Tactical Unit noticed two men running down Club Street in Linksfield. One had just jumped over a wall, and the other came out of the bushes.

The member stopped and chased the suspects, catching one of them. He called for backup, and multiple members responded to assist. Between other members from Guardians Security and Cortac, a second suspect was apprehended, and a firearm was recovered.

SAPS were called to the scene to assist, and the suspects were handed over to them for processing and to see if they can be linked to other crimes in the area.

On Monday 08 August 2022, information was received of an attempted theft of a Toyota Hilux in the Longmeadow area. Teams started the search of a silver BMW X5 that was involved in the attempted theft which was picked up on another platform LPR on Corlett Drive. Working on the Navic platform, we managed to identify the original BMW and the clone. Nightguard had eyes on the BMW which was parked on the corner of Oxford Street and Corlett Drive. Suspects had disembarked to a restaurant in the Center. The BMW was placed under observation by Nightguard, Guardians and JMPD Undercover. Suspects then returned to the BMW and a take down initiated. Three suspects detained and the following equipment seized

ON Thursday 2022-06-30 information was received from crime intelligence about suspects who are involved in robberies and hijackings in the jeppestown area.

The suspects were said to be driving a red vw golf 5 with registration number FYGP and they were four in the vehicle on their way to hijack a vehicle in the jeppe area.

The team was strategically placed and waited for the suspects, the suspects were spotted driving on main Street in jeppe.

The operational team then started following the suspects and the suspect's vehicle was stopped on Hans street, jeppestown.

The suspects were searched and a firearm was found on 1 of the suspects, the firearm had serial number, K4931 and the serial number was inquired and the firearm was reported stolen as per

The suspects were arrested on possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions, the suspects were detained at jeppe SAPS, The suspects vehicle was booked at Aeroton VIS

On the 23/02/2022 the team executed a search warrant on a premises which was identified as belonging to a kingpin within a criminal network operating Gauteng. :

Teams were briefed by CI Counter Intelligence National office the members attached to the kidnapping task team

Teams were given the green light to effect search warrant and find suspect/s.Teams were placed in strategic positions around house in Brackenhurst.

Upon entering premises,main suspect was identified and apprehended,followed by another 3 suspects.

Upon further search of premises it was established that on Benoni cas ###/10/2021 the suspect was linked positively through investigation of being involved in the kidnapping of Jahyr Abdullah. The intelligence collected revealed that the suspect was also involved in Lenasia cas ###/01/2022. The team managed to recover part of the money approximately R70 000.00 in cash and a Mini Cooper which was bought for R600 000.00 and paid for in cash. The team uncovered a receipt of sale for a property in bryanston which was also paid for in cash to the amount of R1,9Million. A Mercedes’ C63 valued at R2 million owned by the suspect was also seized. Several luxury clothing and shoes namely Gucci , Versace etc was also recovered. All these purchases were made after the ransom was paid on the lenasia case. The clothing , cash receipts were recovered at a flat which was rented by the suspect in Bedfordview. The suspect according to intelligence is also linked to a active kidnapping case Bedfordview cas xx/02/2022 were the victim is still missing. During the search 6000 mandrax tablets valued at R320.000.00 was also recovered. The suspect indicated that he was willing to assist the team prepared to make admissions regarding his involvement in the kidnappings for ransom and those who are involved with him.

On 24/02/2022 the team continued following up information on Benoni cas ###/10/2021. The team kept observation on a premises in Benoni and identified a suspect also wanted on above case. The team then apprehended the suspect as he drove to east rand mall. The suspect was arrested and a white Mercedes benz was also seized as it was used during the kidnapping.

Detective from PHO GP organised crime who are carrying these dockets have already informed asset forfeiture unit about the items recovered and the land purchased in cash in Johannesburg. Seizures of items in terms of chapter 5 of POCA will be be discussed with prosecutors.

On the Evening of 6 January 2022 at around 19h37 Members from above stated Organisations Received reports of a Hijacking in the Meadowdale area COE

The Hijacked Vehicle was a Red VW Golf 6 with Reg nr K****C GP , Vehicle was actively Jammed by the Suspects, Members started an Area Search for Said vehicle.

At Around 21h28 The unit started giving updates Members Proceeded to last Co ords

At Last Co Ords a Member from Guardians Security Specialises Tactical Recoveries and a member from Duma Tactical found the Red VW Golf 6 parked and Locked, shortly after this members from Raptor Security and Rentrack Recoveries arrived to assist.

Owner of the Vehicle arrived soon after this and Vehicle was handed over to Rentrack.
