Facilities Management is no longer a support function within the built environment—it is a strategic discipline that underpins infrastructure performance, operational resilience, sustainability, and long-term asset value.

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) Facilities Management Conference 2026 kicked off yesterday, and SAFMA is proud to partner with DPWI in bringing together leaders from government, industry, academia, and the broader built environment sector to engage on the future of Facilities Management in South Africa.

This conference provides an important platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue on the opportunities and challenges shaping our profession. As Facilities Management continues to evolve, the collective commitment of stakeholders across the sector will be essential in driving professionalisation, innovation, skills development, and sustainable infrastructure outcomes.

We look forward to welcoming delegates and industry leaders as they contribute their expertise and insights to these critical discussions.

The conversations taking place over the coming days are not only important for the Facilities Management profession—they are vital for strengthening South Africa’s built environment and supporting the country’s economic growth and development.
