An inspiring message by Edward Thobela who was funded by CHIETA and is now employed.

“Never give up. Never look for the correct job. The job you want will find you as long as you keep trying and stay in the game.”

Today Edward is a process controller because he never gave up.

As we commemorate Youth Day, we honour the courage and sacrifice of the young people of 1976 whose determination helped shape South Africa's democracy.

Today, their legacy lives on in a new generation of young South Africans striving to overcome unemployment, inequality, and economic uncertainty.

At CHIETA, we believe that skills development is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and creating sustainable livelihoods. Through career guidance, learnerships, internships, artisan development, workplace-based learning, and innovation-driven programmes, we are equipping young people with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to participate meaningfully in the economy.

Every learner trained, every workplace opportunity created, and every career pathway unlocked brings us closer to a more inclusive and prosperous South Africa.

Our commitment remains steadfast: to empower youth, unlock potential, and build a future where no young person is left behind.

"Youth are the architects of South Africa's future. Through skills development, innovation and meaningful opportunities, we are building a skilled, innovative and inclusive nation." – Yershen Pillay, Chief Executive Officer, CHIETA.

𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

As SACWU President and a CHIETA Chamber Member, Stephen Manganye plays an important role in ensuring that the voices of workers are represented in skills development discussions that shape the future of the chemical sector.

“Collaboration between labour, employers and skills development partners is key to transformation and closing skills gaps.”

Through his leadership, Stephen helps strengthen partnerships between labour, industry and training stakeholders, promoting learning opportunities that empower workers, support career growth and contribute to a more inclusive and skilled workforce.

By connecting CHIETA Chamber discussions with union leaders and workers on the ground, he helps ensure that skills development remains responsive to industry needs while creating pathways to employment, economic growth and transformation.

Workers are at the heart of South Africa’s economy, and through collaboration, we can build a stronger future for all.
