Happy Youth Month
Trying to survive the Covid 19 pandemic
In hopes that other issues just die in thin air
Only to find that the pandemic was not a distraction enough to stop other struggling
But reason enough to perpetuate inequality of all forms in humanity
My Youth fights to be recognized as human and worth a life.
Not to be seen as Black enough to me killed even after freedom from slavery
Not to be seen as a woman enough to be slaughtered in the hands of man for whatever insecurity benefits in their manhood

I wish next year when we say “Happy Youth Month” there’s no more violence within humanity.

Welcome to the journey where we learn about financial literacy with me, Ms Mpyana.

Financial mathematics teaches us the principles of simple interest and compound interest. But most of us memorized the formula and teach our children to memorize the formula rather than apply the principles especially in our daily lives.

*The egg, potato and coffee beans*

I decide to read the "Egg, potato and coffee beans in boiling water" story. I must say it is a Good Inspirational story. I just have questions ; which of the three is the best to be and which one is the worst to become?

As I look at the concept, i realize that all these 3 items have been through situations all their lives. The egg had always had its covering for protecting the inside and being in water was the only way to get strong . As for the potato it had no choice but to be hard and strong when it was in the soil and also out of the soil, being soft after boiling it was the only thing it could be. And the coffee bean has been burning all its life, it had no choice but change the water.

I look as this concept and relate it to human since that was the main objective and I realize that we are likely to confuse ourselves on which one we should be. There is nothing wrong with being any after being in boiling water and if you understand where you come from and where you are now (in the boiling water) you can appreciate what you become and embrace it.

The inside of the egg has always been fragile and if it did not go through the boiling water it would not have been able to discover its potential. Even if it got hard it was not hard as the potato before it was boiled.

The potato has always been hard and not all situation require you to be hard. This is why the potato turn soft but not as fragile as the egg and its colour could not change water to being 100 percent cream white like the coffee beans.

Coffee beans have been in hard conditions and burning all their lives before they got into water. In the boiling water they got more soft than the potato until they dissolved to change the colour of the water.

We all go through adversities and we come out being different people compared to what we were before the events happened. Do not feel less of a person compared to others however embrace the difference between each other and learn that every situation requires a different you.

If you know who you are and are true to that, you will not envy the egg for being hard or the coffee bean for colouring the water. We are all one of a kind and the easier thing you can do is embrace you uniqueness rather than compare yourself other.
