The National Bargaining Council for the Chemical Industryโ€™s Fast-Moving Consumer Goods sector collective agreement has been extended to non-parties, effective from March 2026 and running through to June 2027.

For employers in or adjacent to the FMCG value chain, this is an enforceable framework with wage minima, shift allowance obligations, leave entitlements, and levy requirements.

One of the more nuanced aspects of this extension is how it interacts with pay architecture.

The Furniture Bargaining Council's amending agreement has been extended to non-parties. This means that shopfitters, upholsterers, cabinet makers and others who don't see themselves as "furniture manufacturers" may still fall squarely within scope.
