๐Ÿช๐Ÿ’ผ Lessons From The Somalians' Way Of Running A Business...

Most spaza shops in South Africa's Townships are being run by Somalians๐Ÿ’”. Strangely, they don't own those shops but rent them from South Africans who have failed to run them or simply opted to rent them out. Here are the 4 lessons:

โฐ๐Ÿ•ฃ 16 HOURS SERVICE: Most of Somalians' spaza shops open at 06h00 and close at 22h00. A customer has confidence that no matter how early or late he goes to a Somali-owned spaza shop, he/she will find it open. ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒ›

๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ“† WEEKLY STOCKING: Instead of waiting for stock to finish, they stock weekly. This makes their spaza shops full and attractive at all times. When you walk into a Somali spaza shop at any time, you are likely to find what you are looking for. ๐Ÿ›’๐Ÿ“…

๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿฆฐ CUSTOMER SERVICE: Somalians treat their customers fairly. They will go as far as giving their loyal customers discounts or allow them to buy on credits. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’ฐ

๐Ÿ’ฐโœ‚๏ธ COST-CUTTING MEASURES: Their rented backrooms are not far away from their shops. Some stay right at the shops. This helps them to open early and close late. When going for daily orders, some use cars ๐Ÿš— while others use public transport like a taxi. ๐Ÿš–

๐ŸŸ๐ŸŒฑ Fish Farming: Tilapia Backyard Farming Guide ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŸ

If you are interested in the profitability of Tilapia backyard farming? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ฐ Tilapia, currently priced at around R55 per kg (August 2019), can be a lucrative venture for aquaculture enthusiasts. Whether you have a small backyard pond or a large commercial setup, Tilapia farming offers various opportunities. Let's dive into the details! ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿž๏ธ

๐ŸŒฑ Backyard Farming Potential:
With a small backyard trough measuring 1.2m wide by 2.4m long and 0.7m deep, you can produce approximately 65kgs of Tilapia per year, earning around R2000. However, to maximize profitability, it is recommended to start with at least 10 of these troughs. This setup could generate around R20,000 per year, making it significantly more profitable. ๐Ÿ’ต๐Ÿ’ฒ

โš™๏ธ Equipment Requirements:
Backyard Tilapia farming eliminates the need for certain expensive equipment found in commercial operations, such as oxygen generators, cyclone filters, drum filters, or ion exchangers. This significantly reduces the overall cost of the setup. However, backyard farming does require some equipment like air stones, filter pads, or bio balls. These items contribute to a lower cost compared to commercial operations. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’ฒ

๐ŸŒŸ Essential Factors for Tilapia Farming Success:
To ensure a thriving Tilapia farm, there are five key components that must be considered:

1๏ธโƒฃ Clean Water
2๏ธโƒฃ Oxygen
3๏ธโƒฃ Food
4๏ธโƒฃ Light
5๏ธโƒฃ Ample Space to Swim

Without these crucial elements, your venture is likely to be unsuccessful. In the United States, Tilapia has become one of the fastest-growing aquaculture species, with over 100 farms producing an estimated 9 million kgs of Tilapia annually. This demonstrates a clear market demand for these fish. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ”†๐ŸŒฑ

๐Ÿ“ˆ Profitability Considerations:
While a significant portion of Tilapia production comes from commercial facilities, backyard Tilapia farming can still be profitable. It takes approximately 240 days for Tilapia to reach a harvest size of 450g to 550g, which is relatively short considering the potential profits. However, backyard farmers should carefully evaluate their operating and startup costs, considering the equipment required and the size of the operation. The advantage of handling the operation independently is that you won't have to worry about employee costs. ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ”

๐Ÿ” Getting Started with Backyard Tilapia Farming in South Africa:
Tilapia farming is a straightforward concept, but the equipment required depends on the chosen setup. A backyard Tilapia pond can be created using various containers, such as kiddie pools, IBC totes, fiberglass hot tubs, or lined plywood troughs. The size of the pond is crucial for Tilapia to thrive and grow. For each full-grown Tilapia weighing 0.45kg, half a cubic foot of water or 14 liters are required. Thus, a pond capable of accommodating 72 cubic feet of water or roughly 2000 liters is needed for 65kgs of fish. As an example, a 1.2m wide by 2.4m long plywood trough with a water depth of 0.7m would be suitable.

๐ŸŽฃ Achieving Profitability:
Producing only 65kgs of Tilapia in a year would not yield significant profits. To turn a profit, you should aim to produce at least 450kg

3๏ธโƒฃ Research Facilities and Devices ๐Ÿ“š

25/04/2023

If you are interested in learning about agriculture and possibly growing your own crops? Spinach is a nutritious vegetable that could be worth considering, even if you don't plan on starting a business. Here are some basic steps to help you get started:
๐ŸŒตStep 1: Start by loosening your soil by digging down deep.
๐ŸŒŸStep 2: Apply fertiliser, manure or compost. If you're using fertiliser, use one handful for every square metre of soil. Alternatively, use four hands of kraal manure or compost for every square metre of soil.
๐Ÿ€Step 3: Use a garden fork to mix soil and fertiliser, manure or compost thoroughly, and then even it out using a rake.
๐ŸŒผStep 4: Put the seed or seedlings into the ground, working according to the instructions on the seed packet or the nursery recommendations.
๐ŸŒžStep 5: Water the plants regularly using flood irrigation, a sprinkler, a watering can, a hosepipe, or drip irrigation.
๐ŸŒงStep 6: For a better crop, apply a top dressing about five weeks later, as spinach needs a lot of nitrogen for good quality, broad leaves. For this top dressing, use either chicken manure or LAN applied between the rows and work it in lightly. Remember to remove weeds regularly.
๐Ÿฅ‘Step 7: Harvest spinach regularly. Remove only the outer (older) leaves with a sharp knife about 30mm to 50mm above ground level. Donโ€™t damage the new leaves. If the leaves are not going to be used immediately, bunch them and put them in water to keep them fresh for longer.
โ™ŸStep 8: Remember not to plant spinach on the same plot over and over, as this causes spinach pests and diseases to build up in the soil. Rotate the crop with other vegetables such as pumpkins, beans, peas, lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, and cabbage.
๐Ÿ“Follow these steps, and you'll be well on your way to growing a healthy crop of spinach. Good luck with your business startup!

๐ŸฅฝIf you are considering a business venture in the driving school industry, it's important to note that although there are no barriers to entry or strict regulations, there is a great potential for profit. It's important to do your research and develop a solid plan to ensure your success in this competitive industry. In fact, some driving schools charge up to R200.00 per lesson. By deducting the cost of fuel, maintenance, instructor fees, and other expenses, you can earn up to R15000.00 per month by offering 250 lessons.

๐ŸŒผTo ensure your driving school is successful, there are some important tips you should follow. First, provide high-quality instruction by hiring properly trained and licensed instructors who have the necessary experience to teach new drivers. You should also invest in teaching materials and equipment to enhance the learning experience.

๐ŸŒ‘Next, set competitive prices by researching other driving schools in your area and making sure your prices are comparable. Offering discounts or promotions can also help attract new customers. Focus on customer service by making sure your staff is friendly, helpful, and responsive to the needs of your customers. You should be available to answer any questions or concerns your customers may have.

๐Ÿ’ฅMarketing is essential to the success of any business, so use social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to advertise your services and reach potential customers. You can also offer referral bonuses to current customers who bring in new business.

โ˜€๏ธSafety is a top priority for any driving school. Make sure your instructors are trained to teach defensive driving techniques and that they stress the importance of safety to their students. Regular maintenance and inspections of your vehicles are also crucial to prevent accidents.

๐ŸฆฅFinally, staying up-to-date with regulations is essential. Driving regulations can change frequently, so make sure your instructors are aware of any changes and that they are teaching the latest regulations to their students.
