This year, gender-based violence has felt painfully close to home for us.
We have lost women in workplaces we partner with.
Women who were murdered. Women who should still be here.
Women who were mothers, daughters, colleagues, friends.
Women who were simply trying to live, work, and show up each day.
These tragedies have shaken entire organisations, and they have shaken us!
We have sat with leaders, HR teams, and colleagues who are grieving.
We have felt the weight, the heartbreak, and the fear that sits inside so many women’s daily realities.
This is not distant.
This is not theoretical.
This is happening in the very workplaces we walk into.
Today, we stand alongside every person and every organisation calling for an end to gender-based violence.
And we call out to businesses:
💜Take every cry for help seriously.
💜When a woman shows or tells you in any way that she is unsafe - act.
💜Put safety protocols in place.
💜Train your teams.
💜Create reporting channels that work.
💜Respond with urgency, not doubt.
Workplaces must be places of protection, not danger.
We honour the women we lost this year. And we refuse to let their names become statistics.
We call on every South African - every business, every leader, every colleague, every neighbour -to demand change.
To intervene.
To speak up.
To protect one another.
Gender-based violence is not inevitable.
It is a choice society continues to tolerate.
And we are done tolerating it.
Not one more woman.
Not one more life.
Not one more excuse.
