Professional recordings can be done either at the M-Studios, located in the SABC or at Downtown Studios, Johannesburg. Studio M2 is one of the most professionally equipped music recording facilities in the southern hemisphere, kitted out with an SSL SL4000 G+ mixing cons

ole and tons of outboard gear. The control room acoustics and monitoring were designed and installed by Andy Monroe, resulting in the truest, purest sound quality. Many independent musicians use M3 for professional recordings, where they have the advantage of a state-of-the-art studio using Protools HD. An upgrade of M3 took place in mid 2003, and the studio is surround sound ready with Genelec 8250A monitors. M5 is equipped with a 1975 Vintage NEVE mixing console, with the World Famous 1095 Mic Pre-Amp / EQ modules. Used with Protools, this studio produces an incredible sound. Each of the M-Studios comes with a Steinway Grand Piano and access to Microphones worth over a Million Rand. Downtown Studios was recently revamped and Studio 1 is fitted with a 72-channel SSL Duality SE. Downtown has a reputation of international acts such as U2.
