Are your leaders building future leaders—or just creating more dependency?

A lot of organisations say they want high performance, innovation, and engaged teams. Then they lead in ways that quietly kill all three.

Too many leaders are still stuck in tell, direct, fix mode—as if barking smarter instructions is a strategy. It isn’t. A coaching culture shifts leaders from needing all the answers to asking better questions, and that is where ownership, accountability, and growth start to show up.

When leaders coach instead of command, people stop waiting to be managed and start thinking, contributing, and leading with far more confidence.

A coaching culture delivers measurable benefits to organisations, including:

• Higher employee engagement
• Greater overall job satisfaction
• Improved morale
• Stronger collaboration and teamwork

Real question: Are your leaders building capability—or just creating more dependency?

If you’re done with leadership that revolves around control and constant firefighting, let’s talk about leadership development coaching that builds stronger leaders and a healthier culture.

Healthy boundaries are not rude, selfish, or dramatic — they’re what happens when you finally stop handing out pieces of yourself just to keep everyone else comfortable.

Protecting your peace is not a personality flaw. It’s maturity. It’s self-respect. And honestly, not every request deserves a yes just because someone expects one.

A healthy boundary should:
• make things clearer, not messier
• protect your peace, not punish people
• strengthen the relationship, not slowly poison it

Sure, setting boundaries can feel awkward at first. But you know what’s worse? Constantly feeling drained, resentful, emotionally fried, and wondering why you have nothing left for yourself.

Sometimes the most respectful thing you can say is: that doesn’t work for me.

Not everyone deserves access to you. It is, however, important to communicate your boundaries to others so they’re not confused or perceived to be barriers to connection.

As we head into the weekend, give some thought to what boundary you need to stop apologising for.

What if the biggest risk to your leadership isn’t a lack of skill — but a lack of self-awareness?

Most leaders don’t have a capability problem. They have a self-awareness problem.

Through the lens of the 9 enneagram types, this is one way to spot the patterns running the show when pressure hits.

The enneagram system doesn’t label people, rather it shows leaders the box they might be in and how to intentionally and more skilfully get out of it.

• Why you grip tighter when stress kicks in.
• Why feedback can hit a nerve.
• What strengths you lead with on a good day.
• Where your growth edge really is.

Of the 9 leadership styles, each with its own drivers, strengths and blind spots, we have an anchor in one which we lead from. Most of us default to one more than the rest.

And under pressure? That default style can get loud.

Self-awareness helps you catch the pattern before it hijacks the room.

Know your pattern, use your strengths better, and stop leading on autopilot.

We offer individual coaching and bespoke enneagram workshops to help leaders and teams grow, adapt and work better together.

Your brain is your leadership engine. Start treating it like one.

I’ve noticed many clients in the corporate world have glorified hustle, pressure, and pushing through. Then wonder why focus drops, patience disappears, and decision-making gets sloppy.

Leadership is not just about mindset. It is also about brain health. If your sleep, stress, food, and movement are a mess, your performance usually follows.

Want more clarity, energy, and resilience? Start with the basics:

• Get quality sleep.
• Move your body.
• Eat like your brain matters.
• Manage stress before it manages you.

Because you cannot lead sharply with a foggy mind.

What is one habit that has made the biggest difference to your focus or energy? Mine has been going to bed at 9:30pm every night, committing to a 45-minute timer for daily movement “snacks” at my desk and a minimum of 5 minutes standing barefoot on the grass every day to ground myself.

If you want support building sharper, healthier habits that strengthen your leadership and everyday life, but you are not sure where to start, let’s talk.

Menopause is not your unravelling. It is your invitation…to live and lead.

For too long, women have been expected to ride the hormonal waves, stay productive, and say very little about the personal cost. That conversation is as outdated as a Blackberry phone. This life chapter calls for honest dialogue, refined boundaries, and a deeper devotion to your wellbeing.

Brain fog. Fatigue. Forgetfulness. These shifts are real. But they aren’t evidence of diminished value, relevance, or leadership capabilities.

If you’re going to have hot flashes, use this “fire energy” to ignite your intentions:

• Nourish with intention: prioritise protein and protect your energy.
• Move with purpose: choose regular movement that restores clarity, steadies your mood, and reconnects you to your strength. Join one of my Nia movement classes!
• Receive support without hesitation: from healthcare professionals, trusted people, and spaces that help you rise well.

Menopause is not the time to make yourself smaller nor to rage against the inevitable. It is a decision to lead with deeper self-awareness, quiet confidence, and far less compromise. Burn off what’s no longer serving you. Get focused on what really matters to you.

If this resonates, let’s elevate the conversation and make it easier for more women to thrive with strength, presence, and purpose.

Fear isn’t the villain. It’s that backseat passenger hissing in your ear, “Don’t do that!” just when you’re about to do something brave; something that matters. Fear points to your tender parts, your subtle shame stories of scarcity, your catastrophic fantasies of what will happen if I tackle this or say that and it particularly loves to dine out on any beliefs of “not good enoughness”.

And what if…fear, like all emotions, was just an indicator? A prompt daring you to go to your edge; a new place of learning.

So don’t let fear run the meeting. Take one small step today. Worst case? You stumble. Best? You discover your gaps and receive new information about yourself and even others. Take this information as fuel for your next obvious step.

Quick check-in: is your fear protecting you from actual danger… or protecting you from the possibility of feeling incompetent while you’re learning? Be a bold beginner and choose the brave option anyway.

What’s the one thing you’d do this week if fear wasn’t weighing in on your decision?

If your team doesn’t trust you, they won’t tell you the truth.
They’ll tell you what’s safe.

At work, people decide whether to trust you based on four assessments. And here’s the part that stings a little: they act on their assessment of you - what you say and how you act - not your intentions.

1️⃣ Sincerity — Do your words match your actions… or are you “strategic” with the truth?
2️⃣ Reliability — Do you keep promises consistently, or only when it’s convenient?
3️⃣ Competence — Can you actually do what you say you’ll do or what you’re asking others to do (or leading them to do)?
4️⃣ Care — The dealbreaker for lasting trust. Do people feel you have their interests in mind, not just your KPIs?

Trust lets teams challenge, debate, and think out loud — without fear. That’s where better decisions (and better performance) come from.

So, here’s the uncomfortable question:
What do the people you work with entrust to you, and what do they withhold because it doesn’t feel safe?

If you’re leading a team and want deeper trust (the kind that survives pressure, change, and conflict), I help leaders tighten the gap between intent and impact — using practical language + behaviour shifts that teams can feel immediately.

What if AI isn’t challenging your skills… but exposing your leadership?

We keep talking about what AI can do. But the real story is more about what AI forces us to face.

When the machine handles the busywork, the noise, the coordination… you’re left with the one thing it can’t touch: Who you are when presence matters more than performance.

AI gives us time back. But time is neutral. You can use it to squeeze more output… or to deepen trust, presence, and meaning:

• One choice shrinks culture.
• The other strengthens it.

The future isn’t automated. It’s amplified — for better or worse — by the leader you choose to be.

I’m curious — what’s one part of leadership you believe should never be automated?
