K D Plumbers suggest you take the following into consideration when planning a revamp or new bathroom design. A few pointers to consider.
Arrangement Examine the way in which the various elements relate to each other. A towel rail sited metres away from the bath or shower will involve naked dashes across a cold floor; a toilet roll holder which is not within arm’s reach of the facility could be interpreted as downright inconsiderate. If two basins are to be included it seems only sensible to put them next to one another, where they can share the same pipes, mirrors and work surface. In a communal bathroom, the toilet should be placed in a position of partial privacy and not opposite the door (a common mistake) or alongside the bath. A built-in planter, a low wall or a recessed alcove are useful screening devices.
Taps are often positioned in rather inconvenient places. Here, you may be restricted by plumbing considerations, in which case it is advisable to consult your plumber on this point. There is no reason why bath taps should be placed at the end of the tub: positioned alongside, they are not only more accessible to a reclining bather but also allow for a more efficient distribution of hot water. Shower taps sited directly beneath the shower-head sometimes make it impossible to adjust the flow of water from outside the cubicle without scalding one’s arms; a very good reason for shifting them to one side. Do you experience noisy plumbing in your home, could be that you are having what is known as:

Water Hammer
Apart from trapped air, noisy plumbing can be caused by a phenomenon known as water hammer. If you close a faucet quickly and hear a loud bang followed by repetitive but diminishing banging noises, it’s probably water hammer or “hydrostatic shock.” The weight of water rushing through pipes generates high velocity and momentum. In addition, water is incompressible. When a faucet or appliance valve closes suddenly, water momentum causes the stream to crash against the valve. This causes cavitation and a small vacuum to occur downstream, pulling the water back momentarily and then releasing it back against the valve. This continues in diminishing bangs until the movement stops. Water hammer only occurs when a faucet or valve is closed suddenly. If you close the valve slowly without causing the banging noise, the problem is definitely water hammer. During the months of May, June and July it is reported that geyser claims increase substantially by about 23,05%. As we know, prevention is better than cure - which is why we’ve put together a few practical tips on maintaining your geyser.
It is during the colder months in particular when geysers are more vulnerable to bursting because they are put under more pressure. Hence, be wise and follow these practical tips to maintain your geyser so that you won’t be left in the cold this winter!
•Insulate your geyser with a geyser blanket: this will keep the water in the geyser warmer for longer and the geyser will not have to reheat often. This can also reduce the cost of electricity and lead to a saving on your electricity bill.
•Check that the geyser thermostat is set to 60° Celsius: geysers are known to burst when the thermostat is incorrectly set or badly regulated. Setting it to 60° Celsius will reduce the burden on your geyser and will also help save electricity.
• Fit a drip-tray beneath the geyser: this will drain away any leaks from a burst geyser. This will save you discomfort and limit water damage should a burst occur.
•Your geyser should be serviced by a qualified plumber every 3 years: this would entail checking the components including the anode, element and thermostat and checking the whole system for possible leaks. Also, a qualified plumber should check that your geyser has all the important safety features such as a shut-off valve, vacuum breakers and a temperature and pressure safety valve.
•Give your geyser a break from time to time: switch it off occasionally, but don’t let it get cold as this additional contraction-expansion cycle could decrease the life-span of your geyser whilst the reheating will use more energy
• .
Be wise:
