An interesting topic came up when I was chatting to an architect. HOW TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF YOUR SECTIONAL TITLE UNIT. He had approval from the HOA, had the SDP approved and the buidling plans. The extension was constructed and that was that ..... no ... who legally owns that extension ? The last steps of having a land surveyor amend the section plans at the Surveyor General and a conveyancer register the amendment at the Deeds Office was never done. Thus there is no ownership of the structure.

It is August and I have been privileged in that I attended the SAPIN Woman’s Breakfast and was once again invited to speak at the EmpowaWomen Annual Leadership Summit. I have met some phenomenal woman this month. I so enjoy hearing about their journey’s and how they came to be in the high powered positions they are in today. It is so inspiring. A few things that stand out for me this year that I took onboard :

1. The concept of Sponsorship, where you bring a woman into a room where she is not present by speaking about her. Sharing her achievements, strengths and abilities.

2. When there is another woman at the table, help her to be heard and make sure she has the opportunity to have her say. This will give her confidence.

3. Gaining knowledge, educate yourself and be knowledgeable. This is a sure way to gain confidence. People tend not to talk down to someone who knows what they are talking about and can confidently bring it across.

4. If you don’t have the knowledge, find someone who does and ask questions.

Over and above this, including woman in my professional team and giving them opportunities will be my aim from now on.
