A little birthday love from Team Zinia! 🎈🎂

We’ve had a few birthdays around the office recently, and we’re always happy for an excuse to make someone’s day feel a little more special.

A few balloons, a birthday treat and, most importantly, a chance to celebrate the people who make Zinia what it is. ❤️

Happy birthday to our recent birthday stars! We hope the year ahead brings plenty to celebrate.

A successful backup report is good news. But it doesn't answer the question business leaders actually need answered:

If we lost a critical system today, could we recover it — and how long would it take?

Backup and recovery reporting should give you visibility into what is protected, whether backups are completing successfully, whether recovery has actually been tested, and whether recovery objectives still match what the business needs.

Because a backup only proves its value when you can restore from it.

We unpack the questions business leaders should be asking here:

From installation to collaboration.

Not every technology project needs to wait until the very end to deliver value.

As part of a broader technology transformation for this client, one of the first 'quick-win' milestones was upgrading a meeting space with modern video conferencing capabilities.

The outcome wasn't simply new equipment. It was a meeting environment designed to make collaboration easier, reduce technology frustrations and better support today's hybrid workforce.

When technology is intuitive, meetings start faster, conversations flow more naturally, and teams can focus on making decisions instead of solving technical problems.

That's the kind of outcome we're aiming for.

Not all malware is created equal—but every type can disrupt your business.

Cybercriminals use different types of malware depending on what they're trying to achieve.

Some steal information.
Some encrypt critical business data.
Some silently monitor activity for months before they're discovered.

Understanding these threats helps organisations make better security decisions and build stronger cyber resilience.

Here are eight of the most common types of malware every business should know.

The good news?

Modern cybersecurity isn't about defending against one threat—it's about building multiple layers of protection that work together.

At Zinia, we help organisations strengthen their security posture through a combination of technology, monitoring and employee awareness.

Last week, we welcomed 44 Grade 11 boys into the Zinia office for an afternoon focused on something we think young people need more of: exposure to what jobs actually look like.

They met people working across different parts of our business, heard how they ended up in their roles, asked questions, and took on a few technology and problem-solving challenges of their own.

Because choosing a career is difficult enough without having to choose from a list of jobs you've only ever heard about.

There are plenty of roles in a technology business that aren't obvious from the outside, and not all of them require you to be a developer or deeply technical. Careers in projects, customer success, finance, sales, marketing, operations, and management exist alongside the technical teams that design, build, and support the technology.

Sometimes the most useful career advice is simply getting the opportunity to meet people doing the work and asking them, “So, what do you actually do?”

Thanks to everyone at Zinia who made time to answer exactly that.

And to our Grade 11 visitors: thanks for a great afternoon, and for taking the challenges very seriously once prizes were involved. 😄

This weekend, we swapped technology for test rugby and spent an incredible afternoon at Ellis Park for one of sport’s greatest rivalries: South Africa vs New Zealand.

We exchanged a few tech stories, but not too much shop talk. Mostly, it was about good company, plenty of laughs and getting to know the people we work with beyond the day-to-day.

And then there was that flyover. ✈️

Thousands of people on their feet, the Bokke about to take the field and one of those goosebump moments that reminds you just how special a packed Ellis Park can be.

The result may not have gone our way, but it certainly didn't take away from the afternoon.

At Zinia, we believe strong partnerships are built over time — through the work we do together, the challenges we solve and the relationships behind it all.

Thank you to everyone who shared the day with us.

Doing more technology doesn't always mean doing better business.

Many organisations have invested heavily in digital transformation over the past decade.
The next challenge is making sure those investments deliver measurable value.

Our latest article explores how South African businesses can align technology decisions with operational efficiency, resilience and sustainable growth.

Technology moves quickly. Our job is to make sure we’re moving with it — and, more importantly, turning that progress into real value for our clients.

This week, members of the Zinia leadership and operations teams attended the Kaseya MSP Roadshow in Johannesburg, where the conversation centred on what’s next for MSPs and the technologies shaping how we manage, secure, and support our clients’ environments.

We had plenty to take back to Zinia.

AI and Kaseya Intelligence. More automation. Smarter ticketing. Automated remediation. Identity security. SIEM. Better use of data. And fewer manual processes standing between an issue and its resolution.

What stood out was how closely many of the conversations aligned with the direction we’re already taking at Zinia: using technology and automation to make our teams more effective, improve visibility and ultimately deliver better outcomes for our clients.

We came away with around 10 solid ideas and opportunities to explore further — including Kaseya SIEM and additional ways we can use automation and intelligence across our operations.

Our MD, Warren Bonheim, also joined the panel discussion, sharing Zinia’s perspective on the metrics that really matter when running an MSP, where service providers should be focusing their attention, and what it takes to build a technology operation that consistently delivers value to clients.

The best part of days like these isn't simply seeing what's new.

It's coming back asking: How can we use it to make things better for our clients?

Thanks to the Kaseya team for an insightful day and for bringing the South African MSP community together.

Cybersecurity is changing—and so are the expectations placed on business leaders.

Recent Gartner predictions point to a clear shift. The conversation is moving beyond preventing cyberattacks. Organisations are now being challenged to:

• Improve visibility across their technology environment.

• Simplify increasingly complex security ecosystems.

• Demonstrate the business value of cybersecurity investments.

• Prepare for AI-driven threats and opportunities.

Cybersecurity is no longer just an IT responsibility. It's becoming a business resilience strategy.

The organisations that succeed won't necessarily be those with the most security tools—they'll be the ones with the clearest strategy.
