Last week, we had the privilege of spending time with a group of graduates who are stepping into the world of work โ€” full of energy, talent, and curiosity, yet already grappling with the weight of some well-meaning but outdated advice.

โ€œGo out and network.โ€
โ€œBook coffee chats with strangers.โ€
โ€œBuild relationships wherever you can.โ€

For many, this sounds like some good advice. But for others โ€” especially introverts โ€” it can feel exhausting, overwhelming, or even anxiety-inducing. The idea of making small talk with people you donโ€™t know, while pretending to be "casually confident," is not just unnatural โ€” it's often unhelpful.

Managing stress isn't about controlling external factorsโ€”it's about consciously managing your internal responses, boundaries, and perspectives. Here's a simple yet powerful toolkit based on the Five Fingers of Framestormยฎ to help you reframe stress and reclaim your Adult ego state:

1. ๐™๐™๐™ช๐™ข๐™—: ๐™๐™๐™š ๐™‚๐™ž๐™›๐™ฉ๐™จ (๐™Š๐™ฅ๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™š๐™จ)
Pause and ask, "What hidden opportunities or benefits might this situation present?"
Look beyond immediate discomfort to potential personal or professional growth.
