Women from across Khanye gathered to mark Women's Month at a celebration hosted by Khanye Women in Mining Committee.

The event provided an opportunity for engagement, inspiration and connection, while recognising the role women play across the operation.

The programme included guest speakers and an awards ceremony celebrating recipients in the Safety Champion, Rising Star, Team Player and Long Service categories.

The Intuthuko YakwaZanele Disability Centre near Canyon Coal's Gugulethu Colliery operations in Breyten has been upgraded through a project led by the Gugulethu Colliery Women in Mining Committee and funded by proceeds from the annual MENAR Golf Day.

The work included tiling, ceiling repairs, fencing and gate installation, interior and exterior painting, electrical wiring, wheelchair ramp repairs and the fitting of a new main door. The centre also received a freezer, gas stove, kitchen unit, heaters, throws and groceries, helping to create a more comfortable, safe and functional environment for its beneficiaries.

The handover event was attended by representatives from the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, the Department of Human Settlements, Msukaligwa Local Municipality and the Department of Social Development.
