So ... I was reading through my daily freelance-to-freedom article, ... I was immediately inspired by the roller coaster vs merry-go-round story, and my resolve strengthened.
" ... when you’re at a theme park and you look at the roller coaster you’re in line for, you can see exactly what is going to happen when you get on it. Why do people ride roller coasters when it’s clear that it’s going to be a scary experience? Perhaps for some people, scary is different. It’s rewarding. It’s fun.
You see the ups and the excitement/anticipation that comes with that. You can see the downs and how everyone is screaming like their lives are going to end. You see the people standing along the fence on the side, just watching but never getting in line (some wish they had the courage to get on it but never do).
Entrepreneurship is just like a roller coaster. At the beginning, you might not see all those ups and downs. However, over time, you realize they are inevitable.
No matter how long you’ve been in business, or how ‘successful’ you are, you will STILL have those ups and downs because you’re in charge of it all.
It’s up to you to decide what you do every day.
It’s up to you to decide to pivot.
It’s up to you to put yourself out there.
It’s up to you to step out of your comfort zone all the time.
It’s up to you to stay motivated.
It’s a lot easier to work for someone else and not go through all the emotional turmoil that comes with everything being up to you. It’s a lot like being on the ‘merry-go-round’.
On the roller-coaster, however, the feeling of those highs! It’s so beyond worth dealing with those lows. No matter how successful you are, you’re never going to stop doing things that make you uncomfortable. There’s always another level you can reach, there’s always something more you can do, and there will always be uncomfortable moments in your life if you want to continue to grow. Uncomfortable = scary, hard, low moments.
You just have get used to and ACCEPT the roller coaster. It’s part of the fun anyway.
Accept the roller coaster then let yourself enjoy it ..."
