| The Mastercard project in Lagos, Nigeria is a 645m2 office fit-out that achieved a 4-Star Green Star Interiors v1 rating.

The office fit-out incorporates several sustainability initiatives including recycling stations, indoor plants, occupancy sensors,
energy sub-meters, energy-efficient equipment, as well as furniture, flooring and assemblies which have either third-party
certifications, recycled content or have been manufactured in ISO14001 manufacturing facilities.

We can finally share this incredible news - our brilliant little team at ecocentric has delivered the Green Building Council South Africa certification for the operations of the entire Liberty Two Degrees portfolio!

Sandton City Precinct: first 6-Star rating for a super-regional centre in South Africa and on the continent;

Nelson Mandela Square, Eastgate, Liberty Promenade Mall and Liberty Midlands Mall each received a 5-Star rating and

Botshabelo Mall a 4-Star rating.

We are currently looking for an experienced green building consultant to join our Johannesburg-based sustainability consulting practice. As a Green Building and Sustainability Consultant, you will primarily be responsible for managing LEED, Green Star or other certification processes (such as BREEAM, WELL, Net Zero and others) on multiple projects – both on new as well as existing building projects. You will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing management, marketing pursuits and business development. You will have the opportunity to explore a broader range of sustainability consulting work as we continue to expand our practice.

Responsibilities
• Fulfil the primary role of the green building certification Project Administrator/Project Manager on multiple projects.
• Collaborate with design and construction teams on LEED, WELL, BREEAM and possibly other types of certification programmes.
• Lead multidisciplinary team meetings, prepare meeting agendas and notes. Ensure that accurate records are kept.
• Maintain excellent working relationships with clients, planners, architects, designers, engineers and contractors to ensure repeat business.
• Projects will include Green Star, LEED (all), and may include WELL and BREEAM.
• Development of sustainable design, tenant and operations guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Support the streamlining of our project delivery through the development of tools and templates which will remain the intellectual property of ecocentric.
• Participate in the development and delivery of external training programmes.
• Contribute to internal organisational excellence and strategic planning.
• Explore ongoing business development opportunities to expand our service offerings.

Investec Head Office achieves a 4 Star Green Star Existing Building Performance v1 rating.

The Investec Head Office is an existing office building with more than 75,000 sqm of office space, owned by Investec Bank Limited and located in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Some key features:

Implementation of a Green Cleaning Policy to reduce exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Development and implementation of a Building Operations Manual and a Building Users’ Guide.

A gradual replacement policy implemented to replace all non-zero ODP refrigerants in the building.

Development of a Sustainable Procurement and Purchasing Policy to encourage the selection of sustainable products.

Development of a Solid Waste and Materials Management Policy to encourage sustainable waste management with the overall goal of 70% diversion from landfill.

Development of Landscape, Hardscape and Integrated Pest Management Plans to encourage environmentally sensitive maintenance and landscaping management practices.

Development of an Owner Commitment which commits the owner to certain environmental objectives for any fit-out and to report annually on the building’s performance relating to energy, water, waste and procurement.

A Green Travel Plan compiled and implemented to encourage use of public transport.

Energy – over 15% more efficient than industry average.

Fluorescent lights fitted with high frequency electronic ballasts and high efficiency LEDs provide quality lighting inside the building.
