2025 - where Creativity met Opportunity. This year ABUNDANCE AT WORK was hard at work supporting abundance ambassadors like Molefe Thwala and Thabo Motseki from Ths Arts Company Soweto (TACS) and Obakeng Matlhoko from Sowertech and Jozi My Jozi . They and so many other SA social impact entrepreneurs continue to prove that hope is a verb. I’m very proud and honoured to have been part of their journeys as sounding board. Our young people have purpose, ideas and a willingness to work towards a better world for self and others. Sometimes: “ I see you. I believe in you,” is all they need from us. Our future is in great hands. 🇿🇦

Last night I was the Gail to her Oprah. I sat beside my friend Lillian Barnard, Chief of Enterprise Partner Solutions, Microsoft Middle East and Africa (MEA), as H.E. President Ramaphosa of South Africa recognised Microsoft and more than 1 900 South African companies like Nedbank, The Shoprite Group of Companies , Volkswagen and BMW Group for backing our youth. But organisations don’t uplift people; people do. And Lillian along with many leaders in that room have been those humans who dared to put youth on every agenda and champion the investments that matter.
Youth Employment Service (YES) South Africa, the largest private-sector-led internship programme in the world, has now unlocked 200k work opportunities for young South Africans. A milestone worth celebrating.🎉
But the night belonged to the young people of our country: the ones who scraped together taxi money for interviews, who arrived hungry but still showed up, who kept saying “yes” to a future they hadn’t yet seen. Their grit, their courage is the real headline. They are what keep me ever hopeful.
It is in our gift as leaders to offer a ‘hand up’ that helps unlock their future, and in turn, South Africa’s future. We can do more. We must do more.
As the President reminded us: “Together we must create a Skills Revolution… and make South Africa great again.” ☺️
To that I say: Yes, we can. 🇿🇦
