Avo Vision is calling on viable Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Amajuba District to apply for the Newcastle Iyavuka programme, designed to help businesses stabilise, strengthen and grow.

If your business has been trading for at least two years, generates an annual turnover of R750,000 or more, and has a minimum of two full-time employees, this opportunity could be for you.

• Annual turnover of at least R750,000
• Minimum of 2 full-time employees
• Demonstrated potential for operational expansion
• Business must operate within the Amajuba District

Social Employment Fund Round 4: What 10 months of Partnership Set in Motion

As Avo Vision closes out Round 4 of the Social Employment Fund (SEF) Programme, we relfect on what partnership can achieve and the foundations it leaves for continued growth.

Over 10 months, from October 2025 to August 2026, our work across six provinces created 1,564 work opportunities and supported community-led enterprises in environmental restoration, food security and Early Childhood Development (ECD).

Relying on our conviction that strenghthening grassroots enterprises and institutions increases the probability of sustained employment for the part-time interns.

The programme is designed to support businesses to stabilise, strengthen and grow.

Through Avo Vision’s Green Business Value Chain (GBVC) programme in partnership with the Industrial Development Corporation’s Social Employment Fund (SEF) and GIZ South Africa, Lesotho & eSwatini, Nchadi Holdings is turning locally grown produce into value-added products while creating income, skills and employment in Ga-Kibi, Limpopo.

What does sustainability actually mean for business?

That question was at the heart of the Sustainability & ESG Africa Conference & Expo 2026, held at the Sandton Convention Centre from 30 September to 1 October.

The two-day conference brought together business leaders, sustainability practitioners and industry experts to unpack how sustainability is shaping profitability, resilience, access to capital and long-term business value across Africa.

On 10 September, Day 2 of the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) Absa Group Studentpreneurs Indaba 2026, Avo Vision joined South Africa’s student entrepreneurship community at Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg under this year’s theme:

“Entrepreneurship in Action: From Vision to Implementation. From Policy to Impact.”

Hosted by Universities South African (USAf) through the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) Programme, the Indaba brings together students, entrepreneurs, universities and industry to strengthen entrepreneurship and youth participation in the economy.

Representing Avo Vision were Nthabiseng Dube, Project Analyst, and Khwezi Cenenda, Director of Enterprise & Supplier Development, who also facilitated a session on “Driving Social Impact Through Entrepreneurship.”

One message stood out: a business needs more than money to grow.

It needs skills and education, experience, the ability to use limited resources wisely and a clear understanding of its customers, market and value.

But purpose matters too.

Entrepreneurs can build businesses that generate income while creating jobs, responding to real needs, strengthening communities and driving social and environmental impact.

This connects closely with Avo Vision’s work in Enterprise & Supplier Development, supporting entrepreneurs and businesses with the skills, knowledge and opportunities to strengthen their businesses and contribute to sustainable livelihoods.
