Are you shaping the next wave of space innovation in South Africa?

The Centauri Space Startup Programme is looking for companies developing upstream or downstream space capabilities.

The programme supports space-tech companies in building scalable, investment-ready businesses, bridging the gap between technical innovation and commercial traction.

Through a structured programme, selected companies will gain access to:

• Expert mentorship from industry and technical leaders
• Business and commercialisation support
• Technical validation and market access

Top-performing companies will receive focused support and access to catalytic funding to accelerate growth.

Last week, we were honored to host students from Tsinghua University's Department of Automation, which is widely recognised as one of China's leading research institutions, consistently ranked among the world's top universities in engineering, information technology and applied sciences.

The group comprising PHD candidates come to explore and discuss South Africa's SME ecosystem, entrepreneurial support models,and the role that Riversands I-Hub plays in driving inclusive growth and industrial transportation.

Engaging with such globally minded young scholars was truly inspiring.

We look forward to continued collaboration and knowledge exchange that strengthen ties between South Africa and China while supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs

Following an earlier visit by the Saudi Development Bank (SDB) team to Riversands, where there was a fascinating exchange on respective experiences in sustainably building a range of resources for SMEs as part of the broader G20/B20 engagements, the SDB subsequently invited and hosted Riversands at its flagship DeveGo Conference in Riyadh in December.

Time was spent engaging with Saudi SMEs, Startups, and SME ecosystem enablers across the Kingdom, gaining insight into the scale and direction of the SME landscape, as well as the similarities and differences between contexts.

It was striking to observe how the Kingdom’s long-term ambitions for SMEs are paired with practical and sustainable implementation. While there are clear contextual differences that make this emerging ecosystem unique and compelling, there are also meaningful similarities. Together, these similarities and differences have now led to a new exciting partnership with the SDB.

Last week, we were invited to the launch of Brendmo Chartered Accountants new, larger offices in Waterfall.

We proudly congratulate an alumni whose journey has been nothing short of remarkable. We still remember their start on our campus back in 2016. What began as a very small, determined team with a clear vision has grown into a thriving firm that has now expanded into Africa and the UK.

These milestones reflect years of patience, vision, commitment, and perseverance. Their story is a powerful reminder that sustainable growth isn’t always quick, but it is always possible with the right mindset and dedication.

This week, we hosted a Funding Readiness Workshop designed to help entrepreneurs understand what it truly takes to be funding/investment-ready not only when they urgently need funding, but as a continuous part of building a credible and resilient business.

Proper positioning, strong governance, financial clarity, and a compelling value proposition are not just “funding requirements” they are essential foundations for sustainable growth. The earlier entrepreneurs work on these elements, the better their chances of unlocking opportunities when they arise.
