One of the best projects I have had the privilege to lead and inspire as Mrs Woolf is without a doubt the development of a brand-new brand for a new youth initiative in South Africa: NextUp!

Conceptualised by an incredible family in BOSTON, led by a purpose-based consultant team in LONDON, creatively and strategically championed out of AUCKLAND, designed and researched in JOHANNESBURG and SOWETO - this has been a team effort across extreme timezones.

With a magnificent story of hope and positivity, a dynamic name and design to house its heart and intention, this new brand will soon take flight and provide hundreds, eventually thousands, of young people in South Africa the chance of a better tomorrow.

THANK YOU to all those in the who contributed their talents to so many parts of this brand's beginnings.

The Lockdown Collection

The BASA Awards’ SMME Award is an acknowledgement of the vital support given to the arts by a micro, small or medium enterprise with up to 200 hundred full-time employees and an annual turnover of no more than R10 million. Our first finalist in this category is Mrs Woolf and Artist Proof Studio, for The Lockdown Collection

Already a finalist in two other categories this year (Innovation and First Time Sponsor Awards) The Lockdown Collection was straight off the starting blocks when the first 21 day COVID-19 lockdown was imposed in March 2020. The project auctioned 21 art pieces by renowned South African Artists to raise money to support South African artists. Each piece was revealed daily and reflected the thoughts, feelings and vision of artists’ COVID-19 experience.

The 24th BASA Awards, partnered by Hollard, will be available online from 31 August 2021 at https://basa.co.za/awards

THE LOCKDOWN COLLECTION IS A FINALIST FOR 3 BASA AWARDS. MRS WOOLF IS a finalist for 2 of them.

Partnering with friend Carl Bates from Sirdar and Berman from the incredible Artist Proof Studio we launched a vision in 48 Hours to help artists through Lockdown in March 2020. Little did we know that would go on to raise over R3.5Million to date and help sustain, grow and develop artists around South Africa through Covid.

Interestingly, the three of us, due to the Pandemic and being geographically separated at different times, has meant that we have never, since March 2020, been physically in a room together at the same time. A virtual victory.

Just being a finalist means we have all won. (Carl's company Sirdar has a fabulous finalist for First Time Sponsor and Innovation too)

We weren't looking for recognition, but it's good we have received some - this project is worthy of reward. It has sustained thousands where state has failed, and kept hope and imagination alive.

The recognition, however, belongs to the army of volunteers who said yes to help even while their own lives and businesses were turned upside down - my design partner in crime and heart ( de Jongh) media, artists, collectors, gallerists, friends, family, academics, first-time art buyers and all those who saw how by capturing these historic moments in time through art, we have been able to grow collections of memory and beauty and help the most gifted of humans keep practicing their art.

THANK YOU Business and Arts South Africa & Hollard for seeing us.

Because we have to have faith that the world will feel brighter.

The previous WK poster for The Lockdown Collection was a sell-out ( Weigh all Tears) and now we have this incredible piece, signed by the artist and in a limited edition up for grabs! Funds go to the Vulnerable Artist Fund earmarked specifically for artist bursaries.

Get one quick! A beautiful way to give as what you receive is so special.

“Not all artists want to change the world, but some artists are interested in social and cultural change and use their work to bring about that change.” - Lynette Wallworth

We are proud to contribute to another The Lockdown Collection initiative that has kickstarted our 2021!

This new in partnership with Latitudes Online was created as a platform to showcase South African artists who submitted work to The Lockdown Collection in 2020. These artists wanted to show solidarity and contribute to The Vulnerable Artist Fund in support of other artists struggling in these uncertain times.

The proceeds of this collection will go towards the contributing artists, the TLC Vulnerable Artist Fund, Latitudes Outreach and Artist Proof Studio. Keep an eye on the Latitudes social platforms for more information.
