BITZER Africa On-site commissioning support for an advanced high-capacity cold room solution

Johann Van Breda recently provided on-site commissioning support in Modimolle for a high-capacity pull-down cold room project featuring a BITZER 4G30 compressor equipped with the BITZER Energy Kit (CRII).

The condensing unit, built by SCM REF Africa specialising in open-type and housed condensing units — demonstrates how advanced compressor technology and intelligent system control can work together to deliver efficient and reliable refrigeration performance.

Supplied through our customer TecsaReco and installed by Autocool, the project highlighted the value of technical collaboration and correct commissioning practices to optimise long-term system operation.

A key feature of this installation is the integration of the BITZER Energy Kit with System Control Mode. By utilising onboard sensors and intelligent IQ functionality, the condensing unit can autonomously modulate compressor capacity based on operating conditions and load demand — eliminating the need for an additional external Pack controller.

This enables:

✔ Improved part-load efficiency
✔ Optimised capacity control through CRII technology
✔ Simplified system architecture
✔ Reliable temperature pull-down performance
✔ Enhanced operational efficiency and uptime

Projects like these demonstrate the importance of combining dependable compressor technology with applied technical expertise during commissioning to ensure systems operate at their full potential from day one.

BITZER Africa & TecsaReco eThekwini: Advancing Technical Capability in KwaZulu-Natal

Following our recent sessions across the country, last week Clinton Thomas continued our BITZER South Africa customer training engagement in Durban, hosted by the TecsaReco KwaZulu-Natal team.

The session focused on practical technologies and system intelligence that directly impact performance, reliability, and long-term system value:

✔ IQ Module (CM-RC-02): Advanced protection and operating strategies
✔ System control with CRII and “B” extension board
✔ ECOLITE condensing units
✔ BEST Software & BEST App for configuration, diagnostics, and optimisation

What stood out in eThekwini was the strong level of engagement — with open discussion around real operational challenges and a clear focus on improving system uptime and efficiency in the field.

At BITZER Africa, training is not a one-off activity. It is a core part of how we support our partners and customers — strengthening application knowledge, enabling better technical decisions, and ultimately improving lifecycle performance.

Following our recent training workshop at TecsaReco Centurion, we were back with another strong turnout in Cape Town last night.

Hosted by the TecsaReco team, Clinton Thomas used last nights session to focus on practical technologies and tools that make a real difference in day-to-day system performance:
