I do a proper financial needs analysis – look at your family structure, debts, needs, retirement needs, savings goals for example: You are 39, married, 2 kids. Small business, doing reasonably good. Employ 7 people. You have a Retirement Annuity but are not sure if it is enough. Questions you may have are : What will my family need if I pass away? How long will they survive with I have now?
