The Egyptians were not simply depicting the sunrise as a physical event. They were pointing to a far deeper truth. The rising sun symbolized the return of light into the material world, and on a personal level it represented the inner return of awareness. When more light, meaning clarity and insight, enters the mind, the self awakens. It is the expansion of consciousness, the moment we rise out of confusion and into understanding. Every aha moment, every realization, is a tiny sunrise within the psyche, the soul remembering itself again.
This is why the Egyptians placed the rising sun symbol above the head of the pharaoh. It was not decoration. It was a declaration. It signified rebirth, the reawakening of the true self, and the continual expansion of inner light. The pharaoh was shown crowned with the sun to illustrate the state of one who has received higher knowledge, one who has illuminated the mind and stands as a living vessel of awakened consciousness. Light is knowledge, and to rise in light is to rise in selfhood. The sunrise was their sacred code for spiritual illumination and the return of divine awareness within man.
