A Great Day on the Green! ⛳

Last week, the HJS Emission Technology South Africa team had the pleasure of attending Schauenburg's Annual Golf Day, where we proudly sponsored a tee box. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry colleagues, strengthen relationships and enjoy a day of networking outside the usual work environment.

A big thank you to Schauenburg for hosting a wonderful event and to everyone who stopped by our tee box to say hello!

We're always grateful for opportunities that bring our industry together, both on and off the course.

Why does HJS choose stainless steel over ceramics?

In demanding mining and heavy-duty diesel applications, the durability of emission control technology is just as important as its performance. At HJS Emission Technology, our Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOCs) feature high-quality stainless-steel substrates rather than conventional ceramic alternatives.

This design offers several key advantages:
▪️ Enhanced durability – Greater resistance to cracking and vibration-related damage.
▪️ Effective emission reduction – Reduces harmful Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Hydrocarbon (HC) emissions.
▪️ Long-term reliability – Engineered to withstand demanding temperatures and operating conditions.
▪️ Application versatility – Well-suited to heavy-duty diesel engines and retrofit emission control systems.

For underground mining operations, where equipment is exposed to continuous vibration, demanding duty cycles and challenging environments, material selection makes a significant difference.

At HJS, we don't compromise on the materials behind our technology. We engineer solutions for the environments in which they operate.

Advanced Filtration. Intelligent Monitoring. Smarter Maintenance.

An effective Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system does more than capture emissions. It's also about understanding and monitoring system performance. At HJS Emission Technology SA, our DPF systems use advanced electronic components that work together to monitor critical operating parameters continuously.

From the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to exhaust gas temperature sensors, pressure monitoring, and display units, each component plays a key role in supporting reliable system operation.

Why is this important for mining operations?

Continuous monitoring of exhaust backpressure, exhaust gas temperature and engine operation provides valuable data to support proactive maintenance, identify potential issues and improve operational efficiency.

This is a key part of our approach to Emissions-Based Maintenance (EBM), moving from reactive maintenance towards more informed, data-driven decisions.

You might be new here… so let us introduce you to the technology at the heart of HJS emission control systems.

Meet the SMF® Sintered Metal Filter!

Not all DPFs are built the same. While many conventional DPF systems rely on ceramic filter substrates, HJS uses a German-engineered sintered metal filter designed for demanding applications where durability, reliable filtration and long service life matter.

What makes SMF® technology different?
* Sintered metal instead of ceramic - a robust filter medium designed for demanding operating environments.
* Over 99% reduction of soot and fine diesel particulate matter (DPM).
* Up to 95% reduction in Elemental Carbon (EC).
* Cleanable and reusable - supporting a longer service life and reducing the need for filter replacement.
* Made for demanding applications - particularly suited to heavy-duty and underground mining equipment.

For us, effective emissions control isn't simply about adding a DPF. It's about using the right filter technology for the application, and that’s why the SMF® is at the core of HJS DPF systems.

Underground, every improvement counts for people, machines and productivity! 👏

HJS Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) systems help mining operations create safer, healthier underground work environments while supporting smarter equipment management.

By reducing harmful diesel particulate emissions and supporting an Emissions-Based Maintenance approach, mines can gain greater insight into engine performance, identify maintenance needs earlier and help keep equipment operating efficiently. And when engines are maintained and operating as they should, there’s another important benefit: better fuel efficiency and the potential for meaningful fuel savings across a fleet.

Cleaner air. Smarter maintenance. Greater efficiency. That’s the difference effective emissions management can make underground.
