By just being herself,

So much I won't forget.

But life turns the page...

Effects of ignorance:
time stolen in the blink of an eye.
Five months - or Moses -
to heal a broken heart.

So much I won't forget.

But life turns the page again...

You and I should have known instead,
We would have been the best of friends -
The kind with no one else to have,
Just you and I on my bed,
saying goodnight, friend.

But hearts like mine
will eventually catch on,
And the word "friend"
won't resonate the same;

My heart would have been
willingly captured, though,
