MDIHUB CEO Attends GCIP 2026 Train-the-Trainer Programme Ahead of Academy Launch

MDIHUBโ€™s CEO Joepac Ndaba is attending the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) 2026 Train-the-Trainer programme in preparation for the GCIP 2026 Academy, which starts tomorrow, 13 October 2026 - hosted by Technology Innovation Agency in partnership with UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization, - Network For Global Innovation, South Africa , Department of Science,Technology and Innovation SA . The participation reflects MDIHUBโ€™s commitment to strengthening its capacity to support entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to environmental and economic challenges.

The focus is on preparing to support Cleantech entrepreneurs from all 9 Provinces of South Africa โ€”not only in developing promising technologies, but also in building viable businesses around them. GCIPโ€™s approach combines training, mentoring and business acceleration to help innovators strengthen their business models, financial skills, communication and investor pitches. Building Capacity to Support Innovators

The Train-the-Trainer programme provides an important preparation step ahead of the Academy. GCIPโ€™s wider capacity-building approach includes training and certifying cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship experts, including coaches, mentors and judges, to strengthen the support available to emerging businesses.

For MDIHUB, the CEOโ€™s participation represents an investment in the quality of entrepreneurship support the organisation aims to provide. It reinforces the importance of equipping innovation-support professionals with the tools and approaches needed to help entrepreneurs move from an idea or technical concept towards a clearer commercial opportunity.

This is particularly relevant to MDIHUBโ€™s work in the North West Province, where its innovation and enterprise-development activities seek to connect local talent, technology and practical business support.

Preparing for the GCIP 2026 Academy

With the Academy beginning tomorrow, attention now turns to the next stage of the programme: supporting innovators as they develop their entrepreneurial capabilities and refine the businesses behind their solutions.

GCIP South Africa supports small businesses and start-ups working on clean technologies through mentoring, training, access to investors and opportunities to showcase their innovations. Its 2026 accelerator is designed to help entrepreneurs advance solutions with commercial potential.

The Academy therefore represents an opportunity to connect technical innovation with the practical requirements of building a businessโ€”understanding customers, defining value, communicating effectively and preparing for growth.

Strengthening Regional Innovation Support

MDIHUBโ€™s participation also highlights the value of building entrepreneurship-support capacity beyond major metropolitan centres. Strong local support can help innovators access guidance, networks and opportunities closer to the communities in which they operate.

This regional approach is consistent with GCIP South Africaโ€™s 2026 Hubs and Spokes initiative, which provides for accelerator delivery in collaboration with nine cleantech implementing partners across the country, including innovation hubs, universities and business incubators.

As the GCIP 2026 Academy gets underway, MDIHUBโ€™s CEOโ€™s participation in the preparatory training marks a purposeful step towards strengthening the organisationโ€™s contribution to innovation-led enterprise development. The emphasis is on helping entrepreneurs turn environmental challenges into practical solutionsโ€”and those solutions into sustainable business opportunities.
