Octopi Smart Solutions was proud to attend and sponsor the Laerskool Nelspruit 12th League Race held on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
It was an early start for the Octopi team, arriving at 05:30 to set up and prepare for what turned out to be an incredible day of athletics and community spirit. With more than 400 athletes taking part, the event was filled with energy, determination, and enthusiasm from start to finish.

To help keep the athletes refreshed and performing at their best, Octopi Smart Solutions sponsored ice-cold water sachets, naartjies kindly sponsored by Indigo Fruit Farm, as well as sweets and nuts to provide an extra boost of energy throughout the day. Sunscreen was also made available to help protect athletes, supporters, and volunteers from the winter sun.

As part of our commitment to celebrating achievement, goodie bags for the first-place winners were proudly sponsored by Octopi Smart Solutions. In addition, every child who attended the eventโ€”whether competing or cheering from the sidelinesโ€”received a free pair of sunglasses, which quickly became a favourite among the young crowd and added to the excitement of the day.

Our very own โ€œSpookieโ€ was a massive hit with the kids who made mom and dad take photos of them with โ€œSpookieโ€
The event was busy, vibrant, and extremely successful, and it was a privilege for Octopi Smart Solutions to be the main sponsor of such a well-organised community event.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Laerskool Nelspruit for the opportunity to partner with you and support this fantastic race. It was an honour to be part of a day that promotes healthy living, sportsmanship, and community involvement.

We are already looking forward to returning and supporting the event again next year!

"It always seems impossible until it's done." โ€“ Nelson Mandela

Finishing Matric is a major milestone in South Africa, but for many young people in our communities, it's only the beginning of a bigger challenge. Without guidance or practical tools, many leave school unsure what options are even available to them.

That's why we hosted our first Sinani Matric Workshop, bringing together 25 young people from five communities, including this year's matric learners and past matriculants who aren't yet studying or working.

Prof. Msakha Mono (UCT) and Dr. Nozipho Bele (UKZN) opened the day by challenging students to imagine possibilities beyond what they'd always known, introducing the different educational pathways available in South Africa. Dr. Leane Grobbelaar (TUT) then walked them through the practical side: university applications, APS calculations, funding options, and what to do if results come in lower than hoped.

In the afternoon, our partners at Octopi brought laptops and technicians who worked one-on-one with each student, helping them set up email addresses and scan their documents so they'd always have digital copies ready. Some students submitted university applications on the spot. Others left with tailored guides and the knowledge that support continues through our team or their local Life Centre.

This was about more than information. For many students, it was the first time someone walked alongside them and showed them these opportunities were actually within reach. Thank you to every speaker, volunteer, partner, and prayer supporter who made it possible.
