Does every shift need its own trained first aider?
If employees are working on a shift, your first aid arrangements need to cover that shift too.
It is not enough to have a trained first aider available only during normal office hours if employees also work evenings, nights or weekends.
Employers should make sure that:
enough trained first aiders are available when employees are actually at work;
leave, sick days and different shift patterns are considered;
first aid equipment is accessible; and
employees know who the first aider is on their shift.
