Eskom calls on communities to report all cable theft after a cable theft incident in Vorna Valley was foiled by Ria Sebetsa officers.

In the early hours of this morning, our vigilant patrolling officer at a nearby estate observed suspicious activity along Harry Galaun Drive. The officer immediately alerted our 24/7 Control Room, and our Tactical Response Team was dispatched without delay.

As our team approached the area, the suspects fled the scene. A thorough inspection revealed large quantities of copper cabling that had already been removed, indicating an attempted cable theft. The suspects were successfully disturbed and prevented from completing the crime due to the rapid response.

The recovered copper cabling was secured, and Midrand SAPS was dispatched to the scene. Our team subsequently handed over the damaged cabling infrastructure at Midrand Police Station, and a case was opened with Eskom.
