Some people change the way we work. Very few change the way we see the world.

For over eight decades Monty Robert’s dedicated his life to changing the way people understand and work with horses. His mission reached far beyond horsemanship. Monty taught the world that leadership is not about force, but about trust. That true partnership is built through understanding rather than dominance. That listening is often the most powerful form of communication.

Just over ten years ago, we had the extraordinary privilege of meeting and working with Monty Roberts during his visit to South Africa. It was far more than a training experience—it was truly life changing.

His lessons remain foundational to the work we do at Equilibrium through Equine Guided Learning. Every programme we facilitate carries echoes of Monty's philosophy: creating psychological safety, building authentic connection, communicating with clarity, and leading with respect.

The horses continue to remind us daily of the timeless wisdom he shared—that relationships are earned, not demanded.

Thank you, Monty, for challenging convention, for changing lives, and for leaving a legacy that continues to inspire people across the globe. Your influence reaches far beyond the round pen and lives on in every human who chooses connection over control.

Rest well, and thank you for showing us a better way.
