Anyone can learn how to run a team.
I’ve seen how quickly people can be taught the tools and tricks.

But I’ve also learned that you can’t teach someone to genuinely care for people.

Care isn’t a competency you tick off in a framework.
It shows up in how you listen, how you show up when things are uncertain, how you notice the quiet ones, and how you choose empathy even when pressure is high.

For me, leadership has never been just about delivering results.
It’s about creating a space where people feel safe, seen, and supported — where they know they matter beyond their output.

When leaders care, people lean in.
They give more, not because they have to, but because they want to.

And that kind of leadership changes everything.

Over the years, I’ve often seen a pattern play out in organisations:
our highest performers are the ones repeatedly asked to carry more — not because they lack capacity, but because they deliver. They are relied on to pick up the slack, fix errors caused by underperformance, and absorb additional responsibilities on top of already demanding targets.

While accountability matters, this approach can unintentionally discourage and demotivate the very people we depend on most.

High performers are not motivated by “more work.”
They are motivated by meaningful work — work that stretches them, develops them, and recognises their potential rather than exploiting their reliability.

When top talent spends disproportionate time correcting avoidable mistakes or doing work others are getting away from not doing, we dilute their impact and risk burnout, disengagement, or eventual attrition.

As leaders, we need to pause and ask ourselves:
• Do we truly understand what drives and motivates our people?
• Are we rewarding performance with growth and opportunity — or with overload?
• Are we addressing underperformance directly, instead of redistributing its consequences?

When we get this right, high performers don’t just deliver results —
they innovate, lead, and elevate those around them.

Leadership is not about giving your best people more to carry.
It’s about giving them more room to grow.

The new year is simply a restart of the calendar — it doesn’t automatically change your life.
Your mindset does.

The days, weeks, and months remain the same.
What can change is how you move through them.

You can calm your thoughts.
You can slow your steps and make them more intentional.
You can choose to lighten your heart by releasing what no longer needs to be carried.

This is how you change your 2026.
Not through resolutions alone, but through conscious choices — one thought, one action, one moment at a time.

This is how real change begins.

What are you choosing to change as you step into this year?

Today, we stand against GBV.

My message is simple:
May the voices of the women in our nation ring through the air with strength and certainty.
May they remind us that when women stand together, we create a power that cannot be ignored.

GBV is not something we can tiptoe around anymore.
It’s real. It’s heavy.
And it demands that every one of us shows up — with intention, with action, and with compassion.

Today, I stand with the women of South Africa.
With the ones who speak out, the ones who are still finding their voices, and the ones whose stories we may never hear.
You are seen. You are valued. You are not alone.

Let’s keep amplifying these voices.
Let’s keep standing together.
Let’s keep reminding the world that we are stronger, louder, and more united than the violence meant to silence us.

💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

We stand together. We stand united. We stand strong.

Leaders don’t need to be perfect. They need to be present.

This is something I had to learn the hard way, during some of the toughest storms 🌪️ in my career.

For a long time, I thought leadership meant having the right answers, the right strategy, the right timing.
But when my teams reflected back on the moments that truly mattered, they weren’t talking about perfection.

They were talking about presence. 🙋‍♀️

✨ The times I sat with someone who felt overwhelmed.
✨ The moments I acknowledged uncertainty instead of pretending it didn’t exist.
✨ The days I slowed down long enough to ask, “How are you, really?”

Presence has a way of grounding people.
It brings confidence into the room.
It builds trust when things feel shaky.
It reminds people they’re not navigating tough seasons alone.

I’ve learned that teams don’t want perfect leaders.
They want leaders who show up—fully, humanly and honestly.

And even now, in my busiest or most uncertain seasons, I come back to one simple question:

Am I present?

How do you stay present when the world feels heavy?

🌫️ How Should Leaders Show Up During Times of Uncertainty?

Uncertainty is one of the biggest tests of leadership.
It reveals what no title, KPI, or strategy ever can — the heart of a leader.

When the ground feels shaky and people are unsure of what tomorrow holds, they aren’t looking for leaders who have all the answers.
They are looking for leaders who are willing to stand with them in the unknown.

Here’s how leadership shows up when it truly matters:

✨ 1. With Presence, Not Perfection
People don’t need a perfect leader — they need a present one. Someone who listens, checks in, and makes space for honest conversations.

✨ 2. With Clarity and Transparency
Even when the answer is “I don’t know yet,” it builds more trust than silence.

✨ 3. With Empathy
Uncertainty weighs differently on everyone. Some feel anxious, some disengage, some push harder. Empathy reminds your team that their feelings are valid and that they’re supported.

✨ 4. With Hope and Perspective
Leaders are the torchbearers. A calm voice, a hopeful tone, and a steady hand can shift the emotional rhythm of an entire team.

✨ 5. With Consistency
In seasons of unpredictability, consistency becomes its own form of safety. Showing up the same way — grounded, open, and reliable — gives people something to hold onto.

✨ 6. With Courage
Courage doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine, leaders sre human too. It means making decisions with integrity, even when the path isn’t clear.

Because in times of uncertainty, leadership is not about controlling outcomes.
It’s about creating stability, connection, and belief until clarity returns.

When leaders show up with presence, transparency, and heart — teams don’t just survive uncertainty.
They grow through it!

✨ Leading Hearts Through Uncertainty

Uncertainty has a quiet way of stealing hope. Even the strongest people can wake up feeling heavy, unmotivated, or disconnected — not because they don’t care, but because the road ahead feels blurry.

And as leaders, we often ask ourselves:
How do I keep my team inspired when they’re running on empty?

I’m learning that inspiration doesn’t come from pushing people to “stay positive.”
It comes from reminding them of their worth, their strength, and their ability to rise even in seasons that test them.

💛 See them. Nothing reignites a person like feeling recognised.
💛 Listen deeply. People carry stories you can’t see — listening is leadership.
💛 Create moments of hope. Small wins, small acknowledgements, small steps forward.
💛 Speak life into them. Your words can be the light that breaks someone’s fog.
💛 Lead with heart. Uncertainty becomes lighter when people feel held, not judged.

The truth is, people don’t need perfection from leaders.
They need presence.
They need reassurance.
They need someone who believes in them, even when they’re struggling to believe in themselves.

In times of uncertainty, motivation isn’t found in targets or tasks —
it’s found in human connection, in kindness, and in the courage to hope again.

This is where real leadership lives.
Not in certainty, but in the way we guide others through the unknown.
