Dr Thotsejane from NSFAS emphasizes the importance to make 4IR applicable to South Africa. Curriculum needs to be Afrocentric. We need to look at the societal and business challenges when designing curriculum for 4IR. How would we apply self-driven cars in the middle of townships, where we have people starving. Instead we need to re-purpose 4IR for South Africa. Save lives in mines and deploy robots there... Just a thought. We need to own the proudly South Africa name, wifi needs to be for everyone and needs to be manufactured in South Africa. If data analytics becomes key, how do we unlock this for the benefits of learners and educators?

Professor Adendorff states that by 2023 we will be seeing the 5th industrial revolution. So how do we ensure that we have succeeded in the 4th IR by then? The 4th IR is complex because it blurs the lines between the physical and digital. AI, IOT and Blochchain technologies are at the center of 4IR. How do we ensure we are prepared for this? It is going to be imperative to have developed the skills for innovation. The sills that the workforce are now looking at will be tech and digital savviness. We need to be catering for the modern learning and creating an environment for life long learning. by 2030 students will be learning more from robots that our teachers today... what a thought... do you agree? Are we ready?
