As we approach V-Day, have you ever considered that not everyone looks forward to Valentine’s Day? For some, it stirs up grief from a lost partner. For others, it highlights loneliness after a breakup, divorce, or years of feeling unseen. It can resurface memories of betrayal, abandonment, rejection or relationships that weren’t safe or healthy. The day can feel like a loud reminder of what’s missing.

Emotionally and psychologically, days like Valentine’s can amplify comparison. Social media becomes a highlight reel of affection, while someone else may be silently battling feelings of inadequacy or unworthiness. It’s not that they “hate love.” It’s that the day presses on tender places.

Some seasons are misunderstood. People will make assumptions about you. They may think you’re down, but in reality you’re busy building—patiently, intentionally—laying blocks, sowing seeds, and establishing what will last long after the assumptions fade. Stay focused, and stay grounded.
