It is very devastating to learn that youth unemployment in South Africa sits at 74.7%. What are we expecting of our country’s future if the youth continues to live under such a hostile environment?

We have continued preaching that as SBC we wish to build an environment that is conducive for student and graduate entrepreneurs to exist. We are still of the belief that one of the most effective ways on fighting against unemployment and poverty is to enable entrepreneurship and aid small businesses. This has been proven in many countries tries that do not struggle with unemployment, entrepreneurs are at the forefront of the battle, backed by their government’s support.

To those willing to listen with intention to support us, we are still more than ready to collaborate in finding working implementable solutions. As young people we refuse to sit on the sidelines while we watch the situation deteriorate any further to what we see in the country.

THE IMPORTANCE OF RELATIONSHIPS IN YOUR BUSINESS JOURNEY AND GROWTH: By Willie Welcome Msomi

Most people believe that you need money to start a business but I believe relationships are of more importance. That’s the reason 2 people given the same resources and placed in the same environment would not succeed the same way. Hallmarks of good business relations include trust, loyalty, and communication, basically relationships.

When I started my business I didn’t have the finance, I had skill but no resources, tools, vehicles etc, but what I did have were relationships. I had friends who trusted me with their tools and vehicles, I had clients who trusted that I will deliver the service. Look with correct relationships your clients can advance you part of your invoice to start a job, or your friends can lend you the money to do the job. With good relationships suppliers can advance you the material you need for the job.

I have friends that can lend me tools, I have friends that are willing to assist with any qualifications and / or the skill I might require for a job, I have clients that always believe I won’t disappoint them and they always see me onsite to encourage my teams but also my employees health state of mind is of vital importance.

Businesses depend on the development and maintenance of vital relations with employees, business partners, suppliers, customers, any person or entity that is involved in the business process. Companies that intentionally cultivate and maintain connections may be more successful than those that ignore these connections. Strong business relations can promote customer awareness, customer retention, and collaboration between businesses in the supply chain.

Start those relationships and start your business, be humble and willing to learn. Listen more, talk less.

Happy Sunday.

In the next episode of the we will be hosting Ms Senamile Masango who is a nuclear scientist, serves in the board of NECSA and is also a founder and CEO of the Senamile Masango Foundation. In this episode she will be addressing the topic “Business opportunities in the science sector and the future of science in the country”, this is developed from the fact that there is very little entrepreneurial activity within the science sector. We believe the government needs to start investing much in supporting young entrepreneurs within this sector, to strengthen the country’s research.
