INCIDENT REPORT – NARCOTICS CONFISCATION

During the monitoring of a specific premises, BRS members observed suspicious behaviour around a pile of wood.

The premises is the same premises where large quantities of Tik (Crystal Methamphetamine) have been confiscated over the past few weeks.

BRS immediately notified SAPS of the suspicious activity and requested assistance to conduct a search of the premises.

During the search, a cigarette packet was found lying between the wood. Upon further inspection, a packet containing Tik was discovered inside the cigarette packet.

The Tik was confiscated by SAPS and the owner of the premises was arrested.

Total quantity of Tik confiscated on 26 August: 49.35 grams.

🚨 DIESEL SYNDICATE CAUGHT IN ACTION 🚨

Over the past two weeks, rural farms in the Citrusdal area have been targeted by a diesel theft syndicate, with approximately 4,348 litres of diesel reportedly stolen.

Boland Risk Solutions (BRS) immediately took action. By analysing LPR camera footage from various dates and times when the thefts occurred, BRS was able to identify and link several vehicles believed to be involved in the incidents.

With the assistance of various members across the Western Cape SAPS, the information was immediately shared with the relevant authorities. The suspected vehicles were then monitored by the BRS control room while SAPS, rural farm owners and community members worked together to develop an action plan.

🚔 OPERATION IN ACTION — 8 AUGUST

At approximately 23:00 on 8 August, the suspected vehicles were detected by the LPR camera system. SAPS was immediately notified, and rural farm owners, community members and BRS patrol units went into action.

Throughout the early morning hours, patrol vehicles, SAPS members and rural farm owners strategically monitored the area from concealed positions as the suspicious vehicles moved through the farming community.

The area where the theft was believed to be taking place was identified, and all available patrol units were placed on alert.

At approximately 04:13, while the suspects were allegedly attempting to steal diesel from a rural farm near the N7, the farm's diesel tank alarm was triggered.

The suspects immediately fled the scene.

All patrol units were notified and remained on standby, patiently monitoring the area for any movement from the suspected vehicles.

At approximately 04:40, two vehicles and the suspected individuals were apprehended by SAPS, and local community members.

During the operation, empty 25-litre containers and various tools were found inside the vehicles. Footprints were also discovered on the premises in the area where the attempted theft had allegedly occurred, together with video footage that may assist with the investigation.

SAPS apprehended the suspects, and the vehicles were taken in for further investigation.

Illegal substances recovered

BRS received reliable information regarding the location where narcotics were being concealed at a well-known premises.

BRS contacted the West Coast Flying Squad, who responded immediately to assist.

A quick operational plan was formulated after which members entered and searched the premises.

During the search, 50.66 grams of the substance was recovered. It was concealed inside a crushed soda can. The estimated street value is approximately R17,500 .

No suspects were arrested. The narcotics were confiscated and booked into SAPS as abandoned property for further investigation.
