DO YOU KNOW YOUR STORY?

Take a moment to think about your unique story.
Are you from a wealthy family, did you have 3 square meals, were you picked up at school or you had to ride the public bus, were your parents together, were you surrounded by loving people, did your parents call you pet names, did you have to wait till Christmas to get new clothes, did you inherit a family business, did you travel often on vacations, was DSTV a luxury? The list could go on….

You probably are doing your best!
You probably are doing just fine…your situation is just different.

Ever heard this phrase…. “They that compare themselves with themselves are not wise?”…yes, you read that right, it’s from the Holy scriptures.

We sometimes bear the burden of measuring our worth and progress with others we consider our friends or peers, when our circumstances were indeed different from theirs; some things you struggled for, others got on a platter of gold. Some things you got so easy, others worked really hard to get.

The key here is understanding your own story, your own timing and tracking your own progress.

You can definitely change the circumstances of your life, you may just need more time.

Our world today is filled with ill-mannered and poorly-brought-up adults; this is not a mystery, rather, it is a reflection of how they were raised by their parents/guardians.

Training up your child in the way of the Lord doesn’t just entail taking that child to church on Sundays - it means bringing up your child with morals and value systems that the word of God approves of; teach your child biblical values such as: (excellence, diligence, honesty, love, discipline, respect, empathy, humility, courage, accountability, resourcefulness, social ethics, hygiene, patience, adaptability, etc).

As a parent (or intending parent), you may not have been brought up properly, but that’s no excuse for you not to bring up your child the right way…you have a duty to study and search the word of God. The Bible is God’s manual for us to use and apply.

And peradventure you weren’t raised up well, you owe yourself and the society the duty to learn the necessary ethical standards and live by them. Don’t just expect others to put up with your bad manners.

In a world that so desperately wants to take from us (our energy, time, money, power, morals, freedom, identity etc)

We must pay attention to those things that take from us without giving back to us (selfish/negative people, blogs, thoughts etc) and stop investing in them.

We must also flip the switch by striving to give to others rather than take from them (give of your time, resources, ideology, kindness, loyalty, knowledge etc). Ask people what you can do for them and genuinely make the effort to do it.

Finally, we must learn to say NO to things that drain us.

Let’s make the world a better place starting today and starting with you.

Remember you are the salt and light of the world. (Matt 5:13-16)

This chapter of my life is filled with gratitude!
I’ve had the most amazing year so far and it just keeps getting better.

My life reminds me of God’s unfailing love, acceptance and possibilities.

There’s been so many beautiful memories, I’ve touched the stars, I’ve gained mastery, I’ve grown, I’ve prevailed and I’m just getting started.
