Users can now flag posts on LinkedIn that feel like AI slop.

The platform also quietly pulled its own AI post enhancer around the same time, a move that got little attention but says plenty. People are getting better at spotting generated content, and they're choosing real writing over it.

This World PR and Communications Month, it’s an interesting shift to watch. Every post, statement and story we put out means more when there's a real person, and real judgement, behind it.

An interesting read on what this means for executives and brands showing up online:

Credibility has always been reputation's strongest currency.

While communication channels continue to evolve, the fundamentals remain the same: consistency, transparency and delivering on what you say.

Executive thought leadership is about sharing expertise and building credibility through authentic leadership, not self-promotion.

A great example comes from our IPRN network partner. In this article, Mojisola Saka, Chief Experience and Engagement Officer at Boucles Africa Limited, explores how Nigeria's iconic Ojude Oba Festival demonstrates culture as a powerful form of influence, shaping perceptions, strengthening identity and creating lasting value.

We've long believed that people trust people before they trust brands.

Executive thought leadership isn't about self-promotion. It's about sharing expertise, contributing to industry conversations and building credibility through authentic leadership.

A recent survey of PR professionals by the Institute for Public Relations paints an interesting picture of where the industry is heading.

While AI and automation were identified as the biggest opportunity for 2026, storytelling remains the most important skill. Media relations and strategic planning also continue to rank highly.

The technology around communications is evolving quickly, but the core skills behind effective public relations remain remarkably consistent.

n a recent IPRN conversation, Julie Wright of (W)right On Communications shared an interesting perspective on Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO). While it's often presented as a new communications discipline, she argues that it's really PR fundamentals applied to a new audience.

Earned credibility, genuine expertise and consistent visibility have always determined whose voice gets heard. The difference today is that the audience isn't just journalists or stakeholders. It's AI models too.

The channels may be evolving, but the principles of good public relations remain the same.

Mandela Day is a reminder that making a difference doesn't always have to be complicated.

This year, our team is supporting Living Hope in Muizenberg, our adopted charity. Because they're closed on Mandela Day itself, we're doing our bit a little differently by stocking up on groceries and delivering them ahead of time to help keep their kitchen running.

Living Hope does incredible work, supporting people to break the cycle of poverty and build the skills they need to become independent and self-supporting. We're grateful to play a small part in supporting that work.

If you'd like to find out more about Living Hope or get involved, you can read more here: [https://www.mango-omc.com/mandela-day-at-living-hope/](https://www.mango-omc.com/mandela-day-at-living-hope/)

Today is World PR Day.

It's a profession that mostly works out of sight: the midnight calls, the message rewritten until it's right, the difficult conversations navigated with care, and the steady counsel given when it matters most.

Today, we're celebrating and thanking the communications professionals who do this work every day, especially our own team, and our colleagues across the industry. Your work may not always be visible, but its impact is.
