On Saturday, 6 June, intelligence was received regarding cattle that had potentially been stolen in the Mullers Pass area. Information indicated that the suspects had utilised a single-lane river bridge to load the cattle onto a trailer.
On Monday, 8 June, an Ithemba Farmwatch client discovered that cattle had been stolen from his property and immediately notified our team. The Ithemba Security Tracing Team responded without delay and commenced an intelligence-driven investigation to identify and locate the suspects responsible.
During the investigation, it was established that the suspects had removed the number plates from their vehicle in an attempt to evade identification and hinder law enforcement efforts. Through the activation of intelligence networks and the dedication of our skilled operatives, the vehicle was successfully traced to the Masondesa area on the outskirts of Madadeni, approximately 45 kilometres from the location where the cattle had been loaded.
Two suspects were subsequently identified, and a tactical operation was planned and executed. Acting on further intelligence, the team proceeded to a second location where a third suspect was found in possession of livestock stolen from our client.
The investigation continued, ultimately leading to the identification of the stock thieves and confirming their connection to the Mullers Pass area.
Utilising advanced technology and thermal drone capabilities, a target location was tactically surrounded shortly after midnight. The operation resulted in the successful arrest of two suspects.
The suspects attempted to steal seven (7) head of cattle but managed to load only one animal. The stolen heifer was successfully recovered and returned to its lawful owner.
