Mi7 Surveillance Net Leads to Arrest of Two Suspects in TLB Tyre Theft Investigation

Two suspects, including a staff member accused of stealing property from his employer, were apprehended following a Mi7 investigation into the theft of TLB tyres from a business premises in Lynnfield Park. The arrests came more than two weeks after the initial incident, with the Mi7 Surveillance Net playing a key role in identifying and tracing a vehicle believed to have been used in the theft.

The investigation began on 30 September, when an Mi7 client reported that TLB tyres had allegedly been stolen from another business operating on the same premises at approximately 11pm the previous evening.

CCTV footage from the property showed an Isuzu bakkie believed to be connected to the incident. However, the vehicle's registration number was not clearly visible, making it difficult to identify and trace.

Mi7 teams subsequently turned to the Mi7 Surveillance Net, reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in the Ashburton area to establish the vehicle's registration number.

The Mi7 Surveillance Net comprises strategically positioned surveillance cameras across more than 160 locations, incorporating Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology powered by Navic Cloud. The system allows Mi7 Control Room operators to identify flagged vehicles moving through monitored areas and coordinate responses.

Through the investigation, Mi7 successfully identified the bakkie's registration number and loaded it onto the Surveillance Net, allowing the system to flag the vehicle if it passed through a monitored area again.

On 14 October, more than two weeks after the reported theft, that alert finally came.

The vehicle was detected by the Mi7 Surveillance Net, prompting teams to respond and successfully intercept the Isuzu bakkie in Mkondeni.

The SAPS investigating officer was contacted and attended the scene, together with the complainant.

During questioning, the driver reportedly admitted to involvement in the theft of the TLB tyres and provided information about other property allegedly stolen during previous incidents.

The investigation then led Mi7 teams back to the premises where the original theft had occurred.

Further enquiries identified a second suspect, an employee of the affected business, who was allegedly removing tyres, vehicle parts and other property belonging to his employer without authorisation.

According to information gathered during the investigation, the employee had allegedly been passing the stolen goods to the driver of the Isuzu bakkie, who would then sell them.

The employee was subsequently apprehended in connection with the alleged thefts.

Both suspects were handed over to the police for further investigation.

FIFTEEN INJURED IN SERIOUS BULWER BAKKIE CRASH AS MI7 EMS ASSISTS IN CRITICAL PATIENT AIRLIFTS, INCLUDING 6-YEAR-OLD

Mi7's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on the R617 between Bulwer and Boston last night, which left 15 people injured, including a six-year-old child.

Just before 9pm, Mi7 EMS received reports of a major accident involving a light delivery vehicle (bakkie) which had overturned along the route. Multiple emergency medical teams were dispatched, including Mi7's Rapid Response vehicle sponsored by BMW Pietermaritzburg, part of the Supertech Group.

On arrival, medics found that multiple emergency services were already attending to the injured, with several patients having been moved to a nearby clinic. According to police officers at the scene, all 15 injured people had allegedly been travelling in the single bakkie at the time of the accident. However, Mi7 personnel did not have time to verify this.

Mi7 EMS teams then proceeded to the clinic to assist medical personnel, who were dealing with a large number of casualties requiring urgent treatment. Patients presented with injuries ranging from moderate to serious, while three were assessed to be in critical condition.

Working alongside the clinic's doctors, Mi7 Emergency Care Practitioners assisted in stabilising the critically injured patients, with two requiring mechanical ventilation.

The severity of the injuries necessitated specialist aeromedical evacuation, although efforts to arrange transfers were initially complicated by difficulties securing receiving hospitals, with several facilities in Pietermaritzburg and Durban reportedly operating at capacity.

Despite these challenges, a specialist air ambulance helicopter was eventually deployed by Netcare, successfully airlifting the first critical patient during the early hours of Monday morning. The helicopter subsequently returned for a second critical patient, a child approximately six years old, who had also been placed on mechanical ventilation.

The second airlift was completed shortly after 4am.

In total, Mi7 EMS transported three patients with moderate injuries to hospital and assisted clinic medical personnel in stabilising three critically injured patients, two of whom were subsequently evacuated by helicopter for further medical care.

Mi7 acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of the medical team at the clinic, specialist air ambulance crews and all other emergency services involved in managing this major incident under exceptionally challenging circumstances.

The cause of the accident has not yet been established and is under investigation by the SAPS.

Mi7 Teams Nab Cable Theft Suspect in Pelham

During the early hours of the morning, Mi7 Control Room Operators received reports through community groups of a cable theft incident at a property on Gower Road in Pelham. Further enquiries established that the property belonged to a Mi7 Armed Response client.

Mi7 Reaction Officers already patrolling nearby were immediately dispatched. The client explained that a man had opened an external electrical box containing cabling and attempted to cut the cables. A neighbour spotted the suspect and disturbed him, prompting him to place the cut cables into a bag before fleeing.

Using a description provided by residents, Mi7 teams began searching the surrounding streets. During patrols along Alexandra Road, Mi7 Reaction Officers spotted a man matching the description. As teams moved in from opposite directions, the suspect attempted to flee but was quickly cornered and successfully apprehended.

A search of the suspect's bag revealed the stolen cabling, which was recovered.

The suspect was taken back to the client's property, where the police attended and a criminal case was opened. He was subsequently handed over to police for further investigation.

Mi7 Surveillance Net Leads to Recovery of Stolen Vehicle and Arrest of Suspect Following Northdale Theft

Mi7's Strategic Threat Response Unit (STRU) successfully recovered a stolen vehicle and apprehended a suspect in Northdale yesterday afternoon, following an extensive search coordinated through the Mi7 Surveillance Net.

The Mi7 Surveillance Net is a network of strategically positioned surveillance cameras across more than 160 locations, equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology powered by Navic Cloud.

At approximately 2pm, Mi7 Control Room Operators received multiple reports from community groups regarding a vehicle stolen in the Northdale area.

As information began circulating that the stolen vehicle may have been spotted in Howick, Mi7 Control Room Operators began analysing available information and monitoring the Mi7 Surveillance Net to establish its movements. For approximately an hour, operators worked to trace the vehicle, using detections from the network's strategically positioned surveillance cameras to narrow the search.

A breakthrough came when the vehicle was detected travelling along Market Road, prompting Mi7 Control Room to dispatch STRU members while continuing to monitor its movements. The vehicle was tracked all the way back to the northern suburbs, where the Mi7 Surveillance Net last flagged it travelling along Allandale Drive.

With the search area narrowed, Mi7 STRU members intensified patrols through the surrounding streets. While patrolling Veerapa Road, one of the reaction officers spotted the stolen vehicle parked on the roadside with the suspect still inside.

As Mi7 teams approached, the suspect attempted to flee on foot. He was swiftly apprehended.

The vehicle's owner was contacted, and the suspect and recovered vehicle were subsequently taken to the police station, where the matter was handed over for further investigation.

Mi7 Teams Recover Stolen Vehicle in Imbali

The vehicle had been stolen from the Pietermaritzburg C*D. Acting on information from the tracking company, the vehicle was found abandoned, and impounded by the police.

Less Than 12 Hours After Deadly Taxi Crash Claims 10 Lives, Another 13 Injured on Same Cato Ridge Road

Less than 12 hours after a devastating taxi accident claimed 10 lives on the MR385 in Cato Ridge, another serious collision on the same road this morning left 13 people injured, including several young schoolchildren.

The latest accident occurred directly outside Hibiscus Cato Ridge Hospital and involved a truck, a taxi and a light motor vehicle.

During the collision, one of the vehicles veered towards the roadside, striking a group of young pupils who had been waiting for transport.

A total of 13 people sustained injuries, including multiple children aged between eight and 10 years old.

With the accident unfolding immediately outside the hospital, Mi7 Emergency Medical Services personnel based at the facility, together with doctors and nursing staff, rushed out to assist the injured.

All 13 patients were brought from the accident scene into Hibiscus Cato Ridge Hospital, where medical teams conducted triage assessments and began treating and stabilising them.

The patients were assessed to determine the severity of their injuries and whether further medical care or transfer to another facility would be required.

The latest collision comes just hours after Wednesday evening's horrific accident on the same road, in which a taxi lost control, killing 10 people and leaving five others seriously injured.
