The REIST (Rural Environment Individual Safety) Programme is the brainchild of two South African ex-Special Forces soldiers Simon Witherspoon and Rich Nicol. Between the two of them they have almost 70 years active experience in the military and security fields, having worked in hostile environments in numerous African countries, as well as the Middle East, Asia and Central America. Most importantly, their skills are current and both are still actively engaged with international military/ security consulting. Both are family men and understand the current urgent requirement in South Africa for safeguarding one’s family, whether it be in the in rural or urban neighbourhoods.
In developing the REIST programme, they came up with an effective map for empowering people to take responsibility for their own security and thus vastly reduce the likelihood of becoming another statistic of violent crime.
Instead of relying solely on their own expertise, they incorporated several other professionals to add value to the Programme, including three other Instructors – an ex-Military Intelligence officer with 30+ years military / security experience including many years internationally, a Women’s World Champion martial arts professional and a highly experienced First Aid Instructor with 27 years of experience (also a lady!).
There are too many one-man bands attempting to offer security training and the shortfalls are too numerous and obvious to mention. With 4 to 5 instructors, each presenting the different specialised modules of the course, it ensures a highly professional service and consistent attention to detail over all facets.
This Programme is aimed towards the family (husbands, wives, grannies, grandpas, teenagers) – anyone 16 years or older may attend. Safety is paramount throughout with rules in place to ensure this.
