Dearest Sista Vee Nohombile Bush, we are as deeply sorrowful to lose you as we are grateful that we got to know you, observe how you cared for people, helped wherever you could, how selfless you were.

You carried your own grief and sorrow with grace.

Your profoundly magnanimous spirit and memory, and diffuse and contagious knowledge and love for the Plant will always inspire us and immerse our work.

Your family is in our thoughts and prayers in this time of mourning.

We're working hard to prepare comprehensive, principled submissions to the Department of Justice in relation to the Draft Cannabis for Private Purposes Regulations (Draft Regs) ahead of the 5 March deadline.

We thought we’d share some illustrative / simplified nuggets of our thought processes to date in relation to what the Draft Regs propose & omit, and potentially imply for Private Cannabis Collectives operating under our Shared/Collective Model.

While government’s track record of applying its mind to industry submissions hasn’t exactly been fantastic, we still believe that thoughtful, well-reasoned engagement is essential at this stage of the law-making process, and we'll be engaging directly with our PCC clients regarding endorsement and participation in this process.

The future of private cannabis regulation is being shaped now, so get involved and have your say!

Brett Pollack chatted with Faith Mangope on METRO FM last night about the proposed Cannabis for Private Purposes Regulations.

Have a listen and, more importantly, HAVE YOUR SAY!

South Africans could be allowed to carry up-to 750 grams of cannabis for personal use according to new draft regulations published by The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Development. The department is asking for public comment on the regulations in terms of the Cannabis for Private Purposes A...

A Serious Warning to the Cannabis Community

The news out of White River this week – adults supplying Cannabis products to exam-writing school children – is deeply troubling. It should serve as a clear wake-up call for every Private Cannabis Club/Collective (PCC) or other operator / community member in South Africa.

Harambe Solutions stands firmly for responsible adult use, evidence-based harm-reduction, and the protection of our communities.

We are working toward a future where adult-use Cannabis is regulated, healthy, safe, inclusive, and constitutionally defensible.

Anyone who fails to implement basic age-verification protocols becomes a liability to the entire ecosystem, places their operation at serious legal risk, undermines the collective progress of the adult-use industry, and should expect the full consequence of the law.

🌿 The Mpondoland Plug Project Has Officially Begun! 🌍

💬 You may have heard whispers about “the Mpondoland Plug” before. It’s been a long journey marked not only by the challenges of rural logistics and communication, but also by a few unexpected tests of integrity along the way. Still, every setback only strengthened our resolve. We always knew this project would rise. And now… it has. 🐦‍🔥

After some years of planning, learning, and adapting, the Mpondoland Plug Project (MPP) is officially live, and we couldn’t be prouder to share this with you.

The MPP is a non-profit community initiative built to connect Mpondoland’s indigenous Cannabis farmers with the urban Private Cannabis Collectives/Clubs (PCCs) that now drive South Africa’s modern Cannabis market.

Our vision is simple but powerful:
✅ Empower farmers through bona fide contractual partnerships, field support, skills development, and infrastructure investment.
✅ Ensure that all Cannabis cultivated meets the quality expectations and compliance requirements set by PCC members.
✅ Build a sustainable system – a socio-economic and cultural feedback loop – that works, lasts, and benefits everyone involved.

Our logo tells the story of our South African Cannabis vision:
From the Cannabis leaf, representing Mpondoland, where Cannabis is cultivated, green rays represent the flow of Cannabis cultivated by Amapondo farmers into PCCs in the urban metros. Gold rays flow back, symbolising socio-economic empowerment and renewal in the villages where the South African Cannabis narrative all began.

This cycle is the essence of the Mpondoland Plug Project: a living bridge of socio-economic and cultural exchange between heritage, sustainability, and modern Cannabis culture. 🌾💚🌉.

We’re officially registered as the non-profit company: Mpondoland Plug Project NPC (Reg No.: 2025/462998/08), and will be actively seeking secondary registrations as a Non-Profit Organisation with the Department of Social Development (NPO) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) with SARS.

Our work is in motion with the Pilot Project, which includes—
🌱 farmer onboarding,
🏡 cultivation support, and
🌞 the development of local drying and processing facilities,
in terms of metrics and a legal model with which we are intimately familiar and comfortable.

To the legends that contributed towards growing lights, continue watching this space - the Pilot farmers are excited to personally thank you!

If you want to help us get equipment together for the upcoming harvest and drying, please consider making a donation:

Until our PBO registration is finalised, we are unfortunately not authorised to issue Section 18A tax-deductible donation certificates. We’ll notify all supporters the moment this registration is complete.

Please follow, like and share our page to keep us in your timeline where we’ll soon introduce the first group of MPP Pilot farmers and share how the Pilot is unfolding in a coastal village in Mpondoland.

Private Cannabis Collectives (PCC) aren’t a stopgap, they’re constitutional, community-driven Cannabis ecosystems. We spoke to Cannabiz Africa about PCCs in South Africa, and why they remain essential, even as commercial frameworks may begin to emerge.

Do private cannabis clubs (PCC’s) have a role in a regulatory framework that allows for commercial trade? Most definitely, say Harambe Solutions founders founders Brett Pollack and Marleen Theunissen (pictured here). They have been grappling with the issues surrounding PCC's and are convinced they...

Brett Pollack chatted to Chris Vick on Power FM this last weekend about the DTIC's ‘National Policy on the Commercialisation of H**p and Cannabis in South Africa National Cannabis Policy’.

They talk regulation vs reality, the illicit boom, small-scale farmers, and whether the ‘green revolution’ is getting the political will it deserves.

If you’re in the Cannabis space, you’ll enjoy this one.
