The biggest challenge isn’t being a Quantity Surveyor… it’s explaining what a QS actually does to someone outside the construction industry. 😅

A Quantity Surveyor manages the financial and contractual side of a construction project.

Their role can include preparing cost estimates and budgets, measuring and pricing construction work, assisting with tender documentation, evaluating contractor quotations, monitoring costs throughout construction, assessing progress claims and variations and preparing final accounts.

In simple terms, a QS helps ensure that a project is financially planned, controlled and accounted for from the early stages through to completion.

It’s much more than measuring quantities - it’s about understanding the cost of construction and helping clients make informed financial decisions throughout a project.
