Free Advice day
It's been a while but here is some advice that can really save you big headaches.
When buying or selling a vehicle, whether it's a scooter, a trailer, or an 18 wheeler, you as the seller are responsible to get the vehicle off your name.
It's written on the yellow NCO form (Notice of Change of Ownership) that the seller is responsible to submit the form. The buyer is responsible to provide his details and ID copy so that the seller can submit it.
Only once this is done can the buyer submit the RLV form (Application for License and Registration of a Vehicle.)
The buyer cannot submit the NCO form unless the seller provides a permission slip.
I'm sure you would not like someone to be able to submit a form in the license department to take your vehicle off your name without your express permission...π
If this process is not followed, you will likely have a buyer driving around making fines for a vehicle still on your name, or you will end up as a buyer with a vehicle that you can't put on your name or license after a year. π±π€¦πΌββοΈπ€―πΈ
This applies to everyone! Even dealers are responsible to submit the NCO form whether or not they charge you for it, it's law that a seller needs to comply with. Dealers are especially guilty of just giving you the forms and saying you can just submit. π₯π

If a seller doesn't do this, did he have the right to sell you the vehicle in the first place?? Is the vehicle in his name, you may need to Call the SAPS you may just have bought a stolen vehicle...
Either way, following the road traffic act can save you!
