Funding was only the start. Alongside her grant, Nicolette has received ongoing mentoring and business training through JLK Business Consulting.

The support has covered bookkeeping, pricing, quotations, tender costing, food hygiene, gas safety and trailer safety, as well as basic computer training completed in February 2026.

It is this combination of capital and capability that allows her to manage her own records, price her services correctly and take on larger contracts with confidence.

In 2024, Nicolette Josop received grant funding through our enterprise development programme to launch a mobile kitchen in Onseepkans, close to Pofadder.

Two years on, Ini Hoeki Mobiele Koswa has grown from serving prepared meals to local workers, learners, commuters and households into a multi-service business earning income through catering, transport and equipment hire.

“My business is not just a dream anymore. My business is an established business in Onseepkans,” says Nicolette. Over the coming weeks, we’re sharing how she got here.

│ Konkoonsies Solar Power

Pofadder and the surrounding communities are home to one of South Africa's oldest living heritages — the Nama language and culture, still spoken and practised here today.

At Konkoonsies Solar Power, it's a privilege to be part of this living history, alongside everything else that makes our community special.

Happy Heritage Day.

This Women's Month, we're celebrating the women shaping renewable energy in our communities. For Harrisinah Theka, Economic Development Manager, leadership means more than driving programmes forward — it means understanding the people those programmes are meant to serve.

That balance of insight and empathy is something we're proud to see reflected in our work in Konkoonsies.

"We are proud to see local women being given opportunities to lead and grow through this business." - Glen Berkat, Social Specialist

We are committed to supporting businesses that create opportunities for local people and contribute to inclusive community development, specifically.

Silo ‘n Sons clearly demonstrates how investing in local women can create a positive impact for the entire Khai-Ma community.

This time of year always gets us thinking about what's next for the young people in our community — and that means gearing up for the annual Career Expo.

Last year, over 500 learners from across the Khai-Ma area came together in Aggeneys, meeting professionals, exploring study options, and even mapping out their goals at our Vision Board Station. For learners in Grade 9 to 12, it was a chance to connect their classroom dreams to real career paths.

In the spirit of Mandela Month, and Madiba's belief that education can change the world, we're proud to be part of that journey again this year. Watch this space — the Career Expo is coming soon!
